I think Morey is neither great, nor horrible.

He is to be judged by how the Rockets continue to do. He did not believe Adelman to be the answer. As of now, he gets more attention than he deserves. Draft picks and salary cap space are great if they lead to playoff wins, and the crazy thing about that is he can do everything right in setting up the structure, but if a guy wants to play with his basketbros somewhere else for less money, there ain't a lot he (nor anyone else) can do.

There's never been a trade where I thought he made the team worse, but there is something to be said about the turnstyle being set up by Morey and disruption of team unity. However, I think he's doing that to get a solid core of players to build around.

I think the Rockets end up at #6 and have an exciting 7 game series with the Clippers this year, and Morey deserves a lot of that credit.

The small sample size of games is the issue. Henry Abbot and truehoop have shown that productive efficient players either maintain or increase production with more minutes. Beverly has a PER of 17 compared to Douglas's 12. If he had done over more games I'd feel more confident in him.

Greg Smith also has a 17 PER is 13 minutes/game. But he's played 44 games and he's definitely ready for permanent rotation spot.

Right, limited games, and the minutes he's played have been largely garbage -- until after Toney Douglas hurt himself mid game against the... Warriors?

You realize Morey got here with 2 superstars who both might as well have fallen off a cliff because he got nothing for them due to no fault of his own. So stuck with a starless, old team he's transformed it in a team with a young star lead one who are in the playoffs and have a ton of cap room while not having a single high draft pick. It's easy to be good when you throw games to draft an all time great. The Rockets always tried to win while constantly getting better and younger.

I was talking about max contracts to players not named dwight (and CP3 isnot coming here). They had enough to give Josh Smith the Max prior to this trade.

We got rid of scrubs, cleared out some cap for a run at a star next offseason, and acquired a true PF (which we all know how much Morey loves PFs) with tons of potential. I'd say this was a pretty good move

Solid trade and sets up nicely for a big signing and a spot for any of the younger PF to step up (White, Motiejunas, Jones).

Poor Rockets fans. No matter how much you want it to be true, it just isn't true. Boston openly tanked. The Spurs didn't even have one of the two worst records in the NBA.

I would think the Rockets of all teams could appreciate not rushing a 7'+ center back too quickly when he has a broken foot. Otherwise, Robinson could have had a career that ended like Yaos.

The Spurs got extremely lucky. They won a lottery they weren't favored to win and it was one of the most important lotteries in the last 2 decades.
