I don't know if any team has won 3 games on the road in a 7 game series, but I bet it doesn't happen often. With that said if any team can do it, it is the never say die Spurs.
I think the hack a Jordan experiment has largely failed this series. For any slight advantage we gain on points per possession, we seem to lose by not rebounding the miss, getting in foul trouble or taking ourselves out of offensive rhythm. It also lets the short rotation of the Clips rest up and catch their breath. Stop this strategy except in possibly one or two isolated possessions.
We also need to go offense first. Paul and Griffin get what they want regardless of who is guarding them. We need to focus on taking away the scoring of guys like Jordan, Redick, Barnes and Crawford. We need to ensure we have a squad on the floor with the offensive firepower to match the Clips. Guys like Splitter, Green (if he misses his 1st couple 3s), and Tony Parker need to sit the majority of the minutes. Leonard if he is off like game 6, needs to be an offensive rebounder and only shoot in the post.
Starters need to be Mills, Diaw, Leonard (with an aggressiveness and dedication to getting in the paint/post or he sits), Green (with a quick leash if he misses early) and Duncan. I would actually use Bonner more than Splitter. Give Manu and Beli some early minutes to see who has the hot hand. I would be fine starting either of them over Green. Parker needs to sit on the bench for at least 2 full quarters. I wouldn't even start him. We need to push the pace as fast as we possibly can. Mills and the hot hand of Green, Manu or Beli need to bomb away with even a sliver of daylight, Diaw or Bonner have to shoot the wide open 3 every time. I want Mills to shoot 15 shots and Diaw another 15-20. Diaw and Leonard need to get the ball in the post against smaller defenders. Duncan has to play 40+ minutes. Finally, run the Clips out of the gym relentlessly and tire them out so that mid range jumper fails in the 4th for Paul and Griffin and they have to use their weak bench (especially minus Big Baby).
Finally, we have to hit FTs. Parker and Splitter have killed us there. We are a much better team when we have at least 2 legitimate 3 point shooters on the floor. The starting lineup of Parker, Splitter, Green, Leonard and Duncan is the absolute worst lineup we can put on the floor, especially with green struggling from 3. Why we insist on them getting so many minutes is beyond me.
