If you're a Rockets fan and not coming out of that game more comfortable than before (barring further injuries) about the playoff picture, then you're simply just looking at the result. This team is versatile and deep. SA sure as **** doesn't want us before the WCF and rightfully so.

Here's some proof. This year, James has the WORST FG% in crunch time of any player who has played in remotely as many close games as he has.

He shoots a terrible % in crunch time yet we never hesitate to let him take over anyways. But it's all fine, right?

That "joke" doesn't even make any sense. McHale encouraged James Harden hero ball even more.
Tough loss, never like hearing Spurs fans in TC.

After all i said and done. I guess I feel encouraged by last night. We shot absolutely horrible from 3 and whenever we do that against a top 5 team we should easily lose, but we actually should have won.

Our crunch time offense is a GLARING issue. Our tendency to abandon our offensive sets combined with Harden's league low FG% in crunch time is all fun and games in December, but when the playoffs come around perhaps folks will start to care about more.
I will say this about Harden in particular. He is having one of the best seasons, if not THE best of his career so far. I have seen him check into games with 6-8 minutes left and be the driving force behind why we are able to recapture the lead or at least maintain/increase it. He is undeniably one of the best 1-on-1 players in the game. The amount of attention you have to pay to him frees up other guys to knock down wide open shots and get easy looks at the basket.
Now, the bad side. He has to get smarter about his late game (talking sub 2 minute) decisions. With 1:30 left in the game up 6 he played 1-on-1 with LMA. He couldve blown right by him to the hole or tried to create contact but he tried to hit a step back 3 and air balled it. This is the "hero ball" that people get upset with and I get it. More often times though Harden is the reason you win a game, and not the reason you lose it.
For example, even though he misses that shot and we turn the ball over we were still up 6 with 1:30 left. Ariza fouled Kawhi to give up 2, then Ariza picks up an offensive foul on a charge, Harden had a turnover, Ariza had another turnover, and Eric Gordon missed a great look at a three for the win. The team went 6/38 from 3, turned the ball over 8/17 times in the 4th quarter, only shot 38%, and lost to the Spurs by 2 (with two missed threes to win the game at the end). Ryan Anderson was 2/8 and Eric Gordon was 4/15.
New win streak starts tonight in Phoenix.

San Antonio should be embarrassed by the amount of offensive rebounds we got, as well as our points in the paint. Is Pau Gasol just complete trash now?
This game could turn out to be a net positive if Pringles can use it as a teaching moment. There is no denying James' skill, but he tends to go through sleepy spells where he basically throws the ball away for several possessions in a row. Sometimes this randomly happens at the end of the game and it will cost us a win or suck the momentum out of a comeback. James needs to turn up his focus late in the game (AND PROTECT THE F***ING BALL) or he will always be limited as a player. There were plenty of these moments during McHale's tenure and I always hoped he would use them to teach James how to be a better player. Clearly that never happened. My hope is that Pringles is the right man for the job.

It was just one call that should've been 3 FTs for James and they called it on the floor and then same possession called an offensive foul on him on a suns flop
