I still have faith we can take Game 6, considering how bad we have shot the ball. Gordon would be a starting PG in a lot of other teams, and he has stepped up offensivley. KD is soft mentally. Game 7 OKC KD is about to bloom and if that happens, Harden might have an MVP career game we've all been waiting for. If it's a blowout by the end of the 2nd quarter? I don't think we will have the fire power to climb out without Paul. I wouldn't object if D'Antoni starts looking towards Game 7, and starts playing more of the bench.

On a side note- are the Warriors one of the luckiest teams? No Leonard for the Spurs. Kyrie was injured during the first Cavs finals and Bogut went down last year for Cleveland too. But their fanbase is crying over Iggy missing?

New to the NBA playoffs?

Injuries play a part every single year.

And every year some fan base says..."Man, team X got so lucky that player Y was out!"

I wansn't providing insight to sports injuries. More of a knock on their crummy fans.

You're right. They've definitely have had luck with injuries. With their own roster and against the teams they've played. Last year or the year before, every team they played was missing their starting PG.

You shouldn't be surprised. It's basically the same fan base that second guesses every single one of AJ Hinch's moves.

The one thing that makes me hopeful about game 6 is that the rockets haven't had one of those red hot shooting games in quite a while

The eastern conference champion will be a team that's on the level of a 4 seed in the West on a normal year. You can play a fuller 8 or 9 man rotation against them and still win in five games. Anderson, Nene, Luc, and even Iso Joe can grab 10 minutes here and there IF you get to the Finals

Just win one game!

You answered your own question a couple of days ago.
We certainly didn't look like it at the time. Thanks for pulling my comment out of context though.

Your obsession with me is noted.

Hickory,

To be fair, one hardly has to be obsessed to notice how negative your posting is during the game when things get even a little rough... Rockets down 10 in the 3rd? Game over.

But then on the flip side, you get the news that CP3 is out for game 6 and you post "Someone should just step up, why not?" I like the premise, but when the Rocks go down 10 in the 3rd, don't proclaim a game 7 loss.... Relax.

I agree with you and the rest in that there's no reason to just straight up concede game 6. But if it's me, my strategy is bombs away and see if Ryno, Joe or Luc can get it rolling. I'd start by telling Ryno that we're running the Capela pic and roll action and to try to shoot 10 3's... and then go from there.

I would HATE the idea of going to a 6 man rotation, or even staying at 7. I'd plan on playing 8 and tell them to just play fearless.

LeBron might really be the greatest player of all-time. Don't think he'll have a better career than Jordan, but he might just be a better basketball player.

We're going to do to Golden State what San Antonio did to us in game 6 last year.

I don't care what you and all the people who blue starred that post have made up in your minds, it's just not true. I've been part of these threads for 90% of all games over the past 5 years, and I can certainly say that I haven't been like that at all for as much as I can remember over he past two years. But whatever.

this is the part of the season when people that don't follow the team start to act interested in basketball and the team itself because we have chance at a ring. I literally talked to someone this afternoon that thought Gerald Green was a rookie

Never has a strategic plan made me throw up in my mouth as much as this one has other than the guy who suggested we put Ryno on Durant because he is tall after game 1.

The team that's won consistently in this series is the one who has been able to cut their bench off the most, not the other way around. And the biggest reason the Rockets are up in this series thus far is because they have had 7 guys who are capable of switching everything and holding their own defensively against the Warriors. Bzdelik is the unsung hero of this series so far. If you start playing Anderson or Nen or Joe Johnson significant minutes this series, the Rockets will get murdered... those guys can't consistently guard anyone in the Warriors rotation other than maybe Looney.

I probably keep the rotation mostly in tact... consider playing Green a couple more minutes and try out Luc as well. Ryno isn't really playable though with what the Rockets have done defensively and I think if they abandon that, they are screwed.

The reason we let Beverley go for Paul and picked up Tucker and Luc in the off-season was so we could switch everything on the Warriors and force them into iso ball and disrupt their cut heavy offense. It has worked so far this series to so why abandon that? Losing Paul is for sure a big big deal for Game 6... but you still have to bodies to execute on what's worked well. No need to panic and change your personnel where you can't really play that way anymore.

I can't really figure out if you are a troll or just not that self aware when I read the b-ball threads... but what I do know is you've suggested the Rockets needed to trade Hardenon multiple occasions... so don't claim you aren't a bit bi-polar about the team.

Got proof of that? The only time I ever remember even thinking that was like two years ago, and it wasn't even that uncommon of an opinion. Certainly the minority, but not uncommon.

But what you're saying is just inaccurate. And how would what I'm saying be "trolling"?

I can't recall exactly all you've said but you do tend to get overly dramatic in big games when we are doing bad. I don't really mind it because I know some passionate fans just are that way, including some personal friends I watch games with.

I threw up in my mouth having to suggest it. I just don't want the Rocks to go with 6 and lose game 7 because of the heavy minutes taking a toll.

Hickory,

Agree to disagree. I don't want to derail the thread any more than it already is.

Hard to imagine the series not going 7 games. One shot, playing at home, not a bad place to be! We might be really loose tonight for game 6 and that can also be a good thing. While Harden hasn't shot particularly well of late, the only real concern I have for games 6 and 7 is turnovers without CP3 (or without him full strength). Fatigue and just trying to do too much...

It's the playoffs and these are pro athletes.... never cut your knees off to win an elimination game for the sake of rest. They have to gut it out with what they've done so far.
Poot
How long do you want to ignore this user?
By definition they're going to have to change something in Game 6 due to CP3's absence... so they literally can't just do the same thing.

You're right, these are pro athletes, but they're not machines. Maybe keep the roatation tight early on and see how the game progresses. I'm not suggesting a concession of Game 6. I'm just saying if it comes down to it and the W's go on a 3rd quarter run to go up 20 or something, I'd fold and save some of my stack for the next hand (Game 7).

Agreed. Come out and shoot a ton of threes. If you're hot, we'll keep it close. If not, see how the game progresses and rest your guys for game 7.

It depends on whether they think they can actually beat the warriors without CP3. If you watched Harden long enough, you know he 1) likes to save energy in games 2) will check out if the situation looks hopeless.

If they get smacked around in the 1st Q, I expect to see a 12 man rotation...

It will be interesting to see how it affects both teams mentally. It could possibly take some pressure off rockets knowing nobody expects them to win game 6. All of a sudden a ton of 3s could be falling.

On the flip side. Even though it is an elimination game, it is human nature for the warriors to have in the back of their heads that Paul isn't playing and they should be heavily favored. If the game is close late 3rd / 4th, it could add more pressure IMO.
