Deandre doesn't have more value to Houston than Capela does. They do a lot of the same things well and what Jordan does better, Capela makes up as a versatile defender in my book.

The only way we're adding anyone major is via trade. George aint happening. We don't have anything SA wants to claw. Bron would have to opt-in and we'd have to work some magic. I don't think there is anyone else on the block worth going after.

This offseason will likely turn into just how many years do we have to pay Paul, how close to max do we have to pay Calepa, and who can we find for cheap to replace Ariza, Green, and Mbah Moute. We'll likely win close to 60 again and I doubt we beat GS or the potentially new LAL super team.

Yea, I mean its not impossible, but this was the sign Morey needed to know its time to move on and take care of other matters like Paul, Capela, rounding out the roster, etc.

I believe the only practical way for us to get Lebron is for him to opt in. But we also need Cleveland to legitimately believe that they're going to lose Lebron for nothing in order for them to be willing to take on our package of ****ty assets. So while I seriously doubt it, this could be Lebron bluffing to try to bring Cleveland to the table.

Most likely though, we aren't getting Lebron. But that's always been the case given our lack of assets we'd be willing to trade.

Someone explain to me the difference between lebron signing his player option and being traded to the rockets vs becoming a free agent and coming to the rockets via sign and trade. Is there some sort of exception we would get?

Personally think he'll go to the Lakers but trying to understand why this "hurts" the rockets chances.

I'm no cap expert, but from what I understand sign-and-trades put a hard cap on the team receiving the player. It's something like $5 million over the Luxury Tax line. So basically it would make it so we wouldn't be able to have all of Lebron, CP3, and Capela. That hard cap wouldn't be there if Lebron had opted in and we traded for him.

But again, I'm not clear on all of the rules about this sort of stuff. If someone knows exactly what the rule is, don't hesitate to correct anything I've said.

That's exactly it. You are hard capped with a S&T. It would mean that Capela probably gets traded for LeBron.

Bron+Harden+Paul all maxed = $100mm and the hard cap for the Rockets would be ~125mm.

There is literally zero chance he's coming guys. If he wanted to come here, he would have opted in and made the move that wouldn't completely cripple us like Chris Paul did when he wanted to come here. He's going to LA or Cleveland. Those are the only places he will end up.

I still think Philly is a dark horse. He is close with Ben Simmons, Philly has young players that can play D, have max cap space and the road in the East is significantly easier than the West.

I believe it is the Lakers. Setting himself up for life after basketball.

I'd say keep all our free agents (Ariza and Luc won't get big offers since no one else has any cap space), hope the mavs get DeAndre so we won't have to max Capela, and trade Anderson for Kent Bazemore since Baze can impact both ends of the floor instead of wasting $20M on Anderson.

Why would Atlanta just give us a good player? Its going to take Anderson and first rounder which would be fine next year. 2020 and beyond picks I wouldn't touch

Yeah that's what I meant. Anderson + 2019 first for Bazemore. Would be perfect for both sides.

No way ATL trades a bad first round pick and Bazemore for Ryno. Bazemore is $4mm cheaper over the next two years and is their starting wing and #3 scorer.

I'd prefer we stop trading our 1st round picks. JMO

Daryl is going to eventually lose his job because of this deal. He essentially has to win the title with this roster to save it. In the short term it could be fun. The problem still remains the timing of when CP3 inevitably gets injured.

Wow. 15mm for Ariza?

That Ariza deal is shocking. And huge loss for Rockets.

That tells me no one wants to play in Phoenix so they're punting to next year.
