Obviously the outpouring is for Kobe as the resident famous person, but if you're a parent, your heart breaks for the two young girls on the plane. Kobe might have been destined to live a great life after basketball and might have lived another 50 years, but he did have a pretty amazing life from age 0-41. His girl and the other young player were just at the cusp of starting to really figure out who they are and what they want to be, and all of that is gone now. Was at my twins' 8-year-old birthday party today when I found out. It hits home in so many ways that just tear you up inside.

I can remember watching an interview he did his rookie season with Dick Schapp before he died. It was on the sports reporters, loved that show.

Just a kick in the junk with him passing, obviously never knew him but how a basketball players death impacts you is kid of strange.

Kobe was an amazing basketball player. You knew exactly what kind of work he put in to be successful. I loved watching him play. He often completely took over a game. He had an attitude and competitive streak like no other.

What hits me most today is about Kobe the husband, father, friend, teacher, philanthropist, etc . The man made a point to be involved in the lives of his children. He learned from his past mistakes. He did not seem to be someone that let his celebrity status make him above the public. I feel like there was so much in store for Kobe and it is gone.

Yeah. Not a fan of knee jerk reactions like Cubans. I didn't like other teams retiring Jordan's number either. But to each their own. It's a business and the owners can do what they wish.
