I didn't see folty pitch last night, and I don't think he'll be a key piece to our bullpen, but he's definitely worth giving a few looks. Qualls has been streaky. He struggled at the beginning (if I remember correctly), and then he found his groove, and he's been having a tough time again recently. When he's been bad though, he's been really bad

I've been absolutely swamped with work and summer school.

Yesterday's game came down to a lack of hitting outside of Josh Field's lack of ability to record a timely out.

Losing 3-1 was still worth taking a half day off at work.

Obie has pitched extremely well since he was called back up. He's been keeping his pitch count down, not walking guys, and attacking the strike zone...pretty much the exact opposite of Peacock. If he had started the year worth a damn, he'd have some great stats that might rival Kuechel's.

All in all, the Astros look to have found a pretty solid starting rotation core in Feldman, Kuechel, and Obie. Need to get another bat or two, shore up the bullpen (or at least get Albers and Crain healthy), and the Astros will have all the ingredients for a break out year in 2015. Process is starting to show results.

I think we're now at the point where we need to bring in some decent free agents. I'm not talking break the bank for top of the line free agents but spend some money to bring in a couple solid, veteran free agents.

I disagree. I think the Astros have a good lineup; guys just need to produce. Castro is having a down year. Grossman is having a horrible year. Carter has been blowing up. Springer and Singleton need to figure it out. And Altuve is amazing. If Springer and Singleton start hitting like we know that they can, there will be 3 (maybe Matt too) that have 30+ HR potential each year, and they are all under the age of 30. I think Marwin is a decent shortstop. Fowler will produce as normal. And if Marisnick pans out, that is a solid, solid line up. I'd rather sink the money into a decent starter or bullpen guy (aka NOT Jerome Williams).

I agree that this lineup could be pretty damn good. Unfortunately though, the Astros have just been so damn inconsistent recently. Aside from altuve, and somewhat carter recently, either everyone is on fire and knocking bombs, or the team finished with 4 hits and no runs. I really do believe that if this lineup and starting rotation (minus peacock) get a few fresh face in the bullpen, they could shock the world starting next season

Duck, do you have any idea how many maybes and what ifs you threw into that post.

As far as proven players go Altuve and Fowler are the only ones in the lineup.

Springer looks like he will be a stud but after him the guys just haven't proven much.

Singleton has a ways to go. Dominguez still is young with room to grow. Castro had a good year last year but hasn't had a good enough track record to say he will be solid going forward. Granted he is good with the staff so that value is what is important.

I'd like to see a lineup like this for next year. I'm not adding in potential free agents because we obviously don't have any idea on those.

I'm tired of it as well. I posted that lineup out of guys we have available right now. One thing to remember is that not all these guys are going to pan out. That 9 player lineup will probably have 3 or 4 new faces coming into 2016.

But seriously, this lineup as way too many what ifs. Dominguez and Castro are both having down years compared to last season. You can't depend on Carter to hit how he is now for a whole season. Singleton can't get above the Mendoza line. Grossman might be right at the Mendoza line, but his OBP is higher than everyone, not named Altuve or Fowler. This team definitely shows promise, but we need upgrades everywhere.

Honestly, once springer is back, I'd like to see grossman get the start instead of Marisnick. Not because I'm a Marisnick hater, but Grossman has been a completely different player now that he's been at the top of the lineup. I'm not expecting him to be a guy that starts next year. He's probably just on a bit of a streak. But I really would like to see how he continues to preform while he's at the top of the batting order

Sometimes it just takes young guys to figure it out. And I misspoke...I think the word I was looking for was potential rather than talent.
