One thing you forget Pete.. is that there is no law saying BABIP has to normalize for every player.

Some players dont make good enough contact to warrant additional hits. It seems they are unlucky.. because they just don't hit the ball well, therefore decreasing their chances or hits on a greater scale than someone like Altuve who makes great contact.

I think we might have another slight uptick, but this is about where our offense is. Castro, Vilar, and Grossman will come up, Altuve and Fowler will settle down.

Agreed. Talent is 1 of the 3 ingredients of BABIP. However, all MLB players have a BABIP that normalizes somewhere. It may be lower than .300 or above, but it will normalize.

And if it does normalize around .260 or so, that means that person probably is slow and makes a lot of weak contact (ie, they suck).

On a related note, what is the single worst BABIP ever for someone who had enough qualified at bats?

To continue on our BABIP talk... the more homeruns you hit, the lower your BABIP also tends to be. Homeruns do not count towards BABIP since they are not in the field of play.

Take Mark McGwire. His career BABIP was .255. Greg Vaughn, .261.
