Yea, I said I only saw it once so I could be completely wrong. What I thought I saw was when the bunt first landed, Rosin looked like he hesitated going to cover first for a minute bc he was frustrated, then remembered he needed to get there and started halfheartedly running that way and then pulled up before getting to the base. (A mistake that would not at all be out of character for a guy with so little experience who was struggling to throw strikes in a close game in Fenway)
I'm not giving Fielder a pass at all even if that was the situation. He is the veteran in that situation and he is the one that needs to know when to put the ball in his back pocket, but IF what I thought I saw really happened, I can someone understand Fielder screwing up the play by trying to divert from his instinctual motions at the last minute (and doing that very poorly, mind you) because the pitcher wasn't where he was supposed to be.
Like I said, I would have to see it again to know if I was anywhere close to right in what I remember.
