Even with how he's currently playing, Elvis's contract is basically market value, based on his WAR production and ZiPS estimates for future years, which aren't especially optimistic.

Man it sucks how bad the Stros and Rangers are.

Imagine where that would be if we'd started the season with all the injuries instead of picking up more on the way. Their record was respectable early.

For a franchise that has churned out some awful teams, I'm going to have a hard time stomaching Wash being given a pass if this ends up being one of the 2-3 worst teams ever. The injury situation was bad, but not one of the 2-3 worst Ranger teams ever bad.

He might need to take some blame, but can't be fired.

mhayden - Before we award them a WS ring... let's see how the season plays out. The Halos are 8-2 against the Rangers... that was certainly not projected to start the season and likely wouldn't have played out that way, if the Rangers didn't trot out SPs like Mikolas and Baker.

The Halos have used 6 SPs this season.

Pujols: .275\20 HRs
Hamilton: .288\ 8HRs
CJ Wilson: (8-7) 4.74\1.385

Wash has never asked for a long-term contract and the Rangers have never offered. It has less to do with "trying to lock up a coach" or "we don't trust this coach to win." The Rangers have committed to Wash and there is a trust between the two.

Ryno - Your reference about Wash shows your issue with Wash has little to do with his coaching and more about your personal dislike of him. #Noted. Who would you want the Rangers to hire and how many more wins would you have projected by the Rangers with a AA rotation?

Regardless of what happens (or more likely doesn't happen) with Wash, Magadan needs to go this offseason. I do think that could and should very well happen.

Magadan should have been dropped last year. I still think we should promote Maddux before someone else takes him and we're left with nothing.
