I'm experimenting with that now. Mini stacks are the way to go imo. If you play a 4 stack and the pitcher gets hot your lu is toast. If a 2 person stack goes o-fer you probably won't win but you can still cash.
50/50 or H2H I wouldn't take more than two hitters per team and no more than 3 from a particular game. Variety is best there.
For GPPs, I usually try to stack teams. On DraftKings, you can stack 1-6 hitters. That's usually my strategy and then fill in with other hitters I feel really confident about. On FanDuel, you can only roster like 4 players from a team, so you have to double or triple stack. That's more challenging.
Just went broke again last night..it's been a struggle this year, really looking at going back to gambling on baseball which isn't as enjoyable but more profitable it appears for me at least...just a bad string this year in FD..may switch to DK
I've been hot on choosing pitchers Just can't pair the right hitters. Last night I got 16 from shields and had three hitters hit hrs. But every other hitter was negative so I missed cashing by a few pts l.
How's everybody's bankroll looking? Our group had 3 top 5s in a row, doubled our bankroll a couple weeks ago. We've been tanking since then. Hopefully we are due. Personally, I've been breaking even in tbe gpp's, still picking pitchers successfully and sucking it up on the position players. Maybe we could get a 10 person game going once a week. Same day every week, that way people know it will be there. I can probably get guys to fill it on days TexAgs doesn't.
Bankroll mgmt is an interesting thing. Not speaking to you specifically but the guys that profit consistently are very good at this. For instance... you could have put 200 lu's into the $5 gpp. That's $1000 to win $10000. We risk 5% of bankroll daily. 40 or so lu's. Of course if you are in it just for kicks then it doesn't really matter. I use to gamble sports more than I do now, I've moved over to dfs more. So sometimes bankroll mgmt goes out the window in my personal lu's.
I've been at a conference all week so I took the last week off. Played for the first time again last night and cashed in all my games, so I got the good feels back.
Like gillom said bankroll management is huge. There are entire books/classes you can take that just talk about that subject. Usually on a given night you don't want to risk more than 10%, and how you play that 10% is also important -- something like a 80/20 split between cash games and GPPs. On DraftKings, I usually play $10 a day -- 3 $3 50/50s and then a $1 entry into the single-entry GPP. If there are other qualifiers/prizes I'm interested in (for instance some of the fan experiences) I might go after those, but that's usually what I limit myself to.
Some people's bankrolls are trending towards E, and are dropping from the competition, while others are cranking up and taking advantage of the overlay in some contests.
Personally, this has been my best week ever. 4x my bankroll this week on 2 GPPs on FanDuel.
DraftKings has been rough. I've decided it's easier to concentrate on 1 site (FD) instead of trying to play both. Also, going with just 1 lineup instead of several has really paid off. It's make or break but when you make, you make. The latter strategy has just led me to break even.
Also focusing on Vegas lines (paying attention to changes throughout the day) and props (HR) has really paid off.
Just got an email from DraftKings. I entered into the Astros VIP experience GPP last Friday night and one of my teams finished 5th overall. Just got an email that the 1st place finisher is unable to attend (he had 3 of the top 5 teams) and they offered the tickets to me. Got 2 tickets to the Diamond Club against the Royals on July 1st. Can't wait!
Some pictures from last night's Astros VIP experience thanks to DraftKings --
Getting to chow down in the Diamond Club before the game with a 5 course meal
And then our seats were first row, right behind home plate
Can't thank DraftKings and the Astros enough for the awesome once-in-a-lifetime experience! Definitely something my family and I will remember for a while!
