Read something somewhere today that broke it down. Basically Harper kinda-sorta threw Papelbon under the bus about hitting a guy that hit a homerun off of him (Harper basically questions the whole "oh you hit a homerun, fine I'm going to bean you next at-bat" process)... As far as that topic goes, not sure what side I'm on. I think it's stupid, but I also miss "the good ole days" where opposing players didn't like each other and if you got too close to the plate you were going to get knocked on your ass.
My guess is Papelbon took offense to Harper kinda of throwing him under the bus in regards to that, and was looking for a reason to call him out and this was one of the rare times Papelbon was actually in the dugout during a Harper at-bat (he's usually not brought in until the 9th inning) so he had to find something/anything.
