Doesn't look close to me. And over the last 7 games, Fielder's OPS hasn't changed and he has 1 double, 1 walk, and 0 HRs.
I looked at the wrong split for the month/forgot when that west coast trip was, but over the past week Moreland is hitting .214 with 1 HR, no other extra base hits, and just 1 walk.

The larger point was that Moreland is a career .256 hitter with a .758 OPS and he's not even played up to that standard this season and he's really only played up to that standard 1 of the past 3 seasons.

Mitch had a very good trip to the west coast, but otherwise its been the same "meh" that has defined his career.

(And on top of that, Mitch is going to be a free agent at the end of the season.)

Mitch is better in the field than Prince but Mitch is still pretty average if not bad.

Mitch is a spare that has some moments here and there.

But he is a + defensive 1st baseman. So if you try and trade him before the season is over, you are rolling with Prince and Gallo defensively at first base.

That will not be pretty.

And I think once again people fall into the "oh he's trending up" because they see 1 homerun or a double every now and again and think "this is it, he's finally breaking out of the slump!"

Reality is he had one really good game in Seattle (June 11th), with a homerun that was more "guess fastball and let it rip" than it was an great display of hitting.

In his last 7 games, he as a 501 OPS. Taken in 7 day intervals, it's actually one of his worst production "weeks" all season. Hardly trending up.

Mitch Moreland is okay. He's certainly turned out well for a 17th round pick, and held down first base with acceptable output though a number of years where the Rangers didn't have any better options.

It's certainly nearing time for him to part ways, but I don't think anybody should feel bad about his time here.

He is trending up when he hits a HR or a double. When you go 0fer over and over, any hit is trending up.

OK, it looks like Fielder is trending up now!

So the Rangers stuck with option #1 and he is heating up. Good thing they didn't bench him like so many were saying to do.

Sooo prince has an 8 game hitting streak goin. He's starting to come around. I know it's not what the op intended but yall might have to go back to bashing on moreland or whoever is in a funk at the time. It's like ppl forgot how Choo started last year... I expect Prince to finish the yr with a .270 ba with 25 hrs. Also to the guy who says he's not vegan, you should read up on that kind of info before falsely calling someone else wrong.

I'll take the under on both. $100 on each?

I imagine he'll get back to .270. Getting to 25 home runs might be a stretch. I'd imagine along the lines of .270/20 HR/90 RBI.

Prince is hitting .200 through the first 3 months (almost half) of the season. He we basically need to hit .333 the rest of the season to get to .270.

Prince has 7 homers, and will roughly need one homerun every 5 games to reach 25.

Pretty good bet on the under for both.

If Prince gets to about .250 by the end of the year that still translates to a pretty decent second half

If Prince gets to 0.250 by the end of the season we're going to win 100 games.

If he gets to 650 plate appearances, he needs to hit roughly .317 the rest of the way to have a .270 average.

If he gets to 690 plate appearances, he needs to hit roughly .312 the rest of the way to have a .270 average.

To get to .250, he'd need to hit about .280 the rest of the way if he has 650 plate appearances.

Right now, he's on pace to have over 690 plate appearances. So, its certainly not quite as daring as hitting .333 but obviously he'll still need to have a pretty dang good rest of the year to get to .270.

I say we just don't jinx the jumbo sized meatball talking about it.

Interesting enough, for his career, he has averaged a home run every 5.01 games.

It would be quite a feat to get back to that, but there ya go.
