Just get the bunt on the ground! That's my biggest pet peave when coaching.

its the most random thing in all of sports in my mind. On odd years, they don't make the playoffs... On even years, they win the whole ******* thing.PWestAg18 said:

It's not even that simple. On odd years they're terrible. Not even close to making the playoffs. It would be a bit more believable if they made the playoffs every year and just happened to win every other season, but this is such a strange good-terrible-great-terrible-good alternating year scenario that just doesn't make sense. Especially when the core of the team remains the same from year to year for the most part.

They've stayed healthy in the even years...until this year. In 2016, they were one of the worst (if not the worst) teams in the 2nd half of the season - when the effects of the injuries were felt - but still made the playoffs due to the great first half and winning the last 4 games of the year.
As a Cubs fan, I have absolutely no sympathy for Giants fans who think that is a low point.WoMD said:NorCal said:WoMD said:Buck Compton said:its the most random thing in all of sports in my mind. Most of the collapse happened after they had everyone back from injuries. The second half collapse was 100% due to the bullpen, not injuries. I saw almost all the games this season, and have never seen such a miserable display every freaking day after the all star break. It was depressing, and demoralizing to the team. The look on madbum's face as he had wins blown game after game was laughable.
There were at least 10 games blown by the bullpen that everyone in SF said was the low point, only to be outdone within a few days...
Their bullpen is pretty bad and we have a lineup full of players who work deep counts. That bodes well for us. Plus our starting pitching is pretty damn good.TexAgs1992 said:

Does any pitcher complain more than Bumgarner when he doesn't get his way? The guy is crazy good but my god he is a whiner.

Surely the best team to ever play the game didn't lose game one in blowout fashion at home.
