Definitely feel like players are agreed to but Mets are trying to talk to other teams to get a better offer

Dusty haters overblow everything about his words. It's like a couple that's beyond repair and headed for divorce. Everything that comes out of the other's mouth is twisted to be the absolute worst in the mind of the other.Farmer1906 said:Thanks. In case you want to hear a senile old man's musing on extraneous furniture

We do not have the ammo to pull that off compared to the other teams who will be in on that

JV still holds all the leverage. I sense he has made it quite clear his preference is to return to Houston and the Mets are going to hold out as long as they can.

Again it really ticks me off that the Mets are trying to squeeze us or other teams for an asset their idiot owner WAY overspent for along with Max.
It's not like they brought him up through the farm system and developed him, nope, crazy rich d-bag scratched the biggest check.
And yes, I get that they want the most return, it just rubs me the wrong way.

word is they want Maldy and Myers and Dusty won't approve
which is why I think the organization needs to be cautious with this trade deadline. We have been on a nice run for the better part of 7 seasons. We have the ability to prolong that run (even if we "dip" a bit in the next year or two). We have aging/declining players in Altuve, Bregman, etc. We have bolstered our run by giving up some talented prospects and depleting our farm system. It turned out to be a great decision resulting in a couple of World Championships.EastCoastAgNc said:Big Al 1992 said:

It pissed me off a lot too, but I can still see he's a good dude and does have a lot of knowledge of the game and pull with the players. It's easy to listen to everything he says and convince yourself he's an idiot when you already don't like his on field decisions.ttha_aggie_09 said:
I couldn't care less what Dusty says… it is how he manages that pisses me off and I suspect many feel the same way

I'd give up a couple of top prospects for Cease since he's under control through 2025.BadAggie said:
The farm system was depleted by promoting some elite players, loss of draft picks, and a few whiffs. I mean if they brought back Correa and left Peña in the minors the farm system would look better, no? Same for Vazquez and Diaz.
I think at some point you ramp it up. If Cease is to be had for 2 of your top 'prospects' who says no?

I hope they go dark on JV. This is a recipe for an overpay. And he's not who many think he is.

You should revisit the 2017 ALCS and see how JV performedBad Poster said:Mr.Bond said:HarryRocket said:

Also increases the chance at winning the division and avoiding the wild card round.....BadAggie said:
JV increases significantly your odds that you win the ALCS and make it to the WS. From there it's up to the team to win it. That's how I think of his value.
Orioles working hard to acquire a starting pitcher. If anyone has the prospects to get a good one, it is them.

No updates on my end. Not super surprised as I would expect things to be kept pretty tight lipped today.
