Good morning to everyone but Anaheim, #GoHalos fans & that awful umpiring crew in San Diego. Houston just needed to get back inside the friendly confines of The Juice Box and have Yusei do his thing. (9-0 in games he starts since the trade. Unreal.) #Relentless 🤘🏼🔥 pic.twitter.com/QrQasK3Pn1

And oh by the way the Rangers have officially been eliminated from the West. And I think they are at 2 on the magic number counter for the WC.
Sources: Cuban OF Kevin Alvarez (16) was declared a free agent in recent hours.

Need good JV tonight. Last start against LAA was a good sign that he's making his way back (even though strikeouts are down): 5IP, 4H, 2R, 2BB, 2K.

I don't see how. Rangers have 73 wins. 3 wins puts them at 76. There are 8 teams with more than 76 wins today. If they run the table, they'll have 82 wins. There are 5 teams with more than 82 wins today. Explain how the Rangers aren't already eliminated.Mathguy64 said:Martin Cash said:Username does not check out.Mathguy64 said:

I did say "I think". Turns out it's 3 not 2. Not that there is much difference at this point between 3 and 2.

I think he meant magic number to be eliminated from contention for it, not to clinch it.Martin Cash said:I don't see how. Rangers have 73 wins. 3 wins puts them at 76. I came here to post about how the Big Jon experiment is finally paying off. I'll eat crow on this one. I did not see it coming. If we can manage to get him a ring, you'd be smart to buy the rights to the screenplay.Mathguy64 said:
If Big Jon is not the comeback player of the year there needs to be a recount.

Because if they run the table they can get to 82 and both Minny and Detroit are at 80 now and are tied for the last WC spot. That's the 3 for the magic number for them. It's still possible they can get the last WC.Martin Cash said:I don't see how. Rangers have 73 wins. 3 wins puts them at 76. There are 8 teams with more than 76 wins today. Detroit has the third WC spot right now with 80 wins. If the Rangers win out to get to 82 and somehow everyone from Detroit down fails to each 82, the Rangers would be in the last WC spot.
Mathematically, they are not eliminated. In reality, they are toast.
Hating on the wave is un-American. Baseball by its nature is a slow game. Sometimes you just need the wave. And besides, this isn't golf where everyone has to just sit there and whisper.WES2006AG said:
Anyone observed trying to start the wave should be escorted out and given a lifetime ban.

With an appropriately timed and located foul ball you could kill two birds with one stone.Mathguy64 said:
I have never stood up for a wave.
I've never caught a foul ball and never done the wave.
If you want to do the wave, stay home and do it with your family where no one can see it. Rob Manfred could gain more favor from fans by banning the wave.Texas A&M said:Hating on the wave is un-American. Baseball by its nature is a slow game. Sometimes you just need the wave.
