And actually, when it does, it usually falls off a cliff pretty soon as other teams get film on a guy and figure out his weaknesses. It doesn't always work out like Paul Skenes, but it would be a lot cooler if it did.

This is a byproduct of Ranger fans being so beaten down historically and that any source of optimism is in "wait till Prospect X comes up!!" Then when they inevitably struggle a not insignificant segment of fans (not necessarily the ones on this thread, but more in general) start writing them off because they see a Skenes or Gunnar Henderson showing results without seeing the path they took to get there.

Heck, we won the whole damn thing last year and the majority of the fanbase went right back to gassing up Langford as Mike Trout 2.0 and expecting Leiter to dominate right off the rip. It's a hard habit to break, but I hope that we're maturing as an organization so that our fanbase can adjust it's expectations around prospects. And I say this as someone that was crushed when Ruben Mateo broke his leg running to first, and when Mike Olt came up and looked lost, and when we traded John Danks, the list goes on and on.

I'm excited for Leiter, and noticed one of the asst. GM's quotes along the lines of "he's got nothing left to prove", so to me that means this is it -- time to shove or be a career AAAA pitcher. I'm honestly more optimistic about Rocker, probably because he hasn't been blasted in the majors yet!

IMO. I think Leiter is going to be a successful big league pitcher. I do not think he is an ace, but a middle rotation starter.

I do think Rocker, with his stuff has a chance to be a solid number 2.

For both of them they will have to make adjustments as they are figured out.

I really think the back end of the rotation next year will be good. For sure Bradford then either Leiter or eventually Rocker.

Top 3 of DeGrom, Evoaldi, Mahle.

That's probably about right. I do think we'll still sign 2-3 SPs.

I think Dunning (A2, $3.3M in '24), Gray ($14M in '25), and Adolis ($9M in '25) will be moved.
Eovaldi will meet his vOpt, but we'll sign him to a 2-3yr deal, and then Robertson and the Rangers will agree on his '25 option.

All of that should drop our '24 CBT... and give us spending room in '25.

I like some better than others. I didn't like the rangers at first but they've grown on me. And I know I'm not the target demographic

I think the Angels have the best one, but I really dig that throwback look.

So if the count was 0-2, then if the PH struck out the ab goes to the original batter (Jansen). So f that were the case... he could have been charged with a strikeout batting while at the same time he was catching for the other team! That would likely break some stat tracking systems

If Montgomery had made fewer than 10 starts this year, he simply would've become a free agent after the World Series; this was meant to limit Arizona's risk if Montgomery sustained a long-term injury while ramping up after his late signing.

But what it didn't protect the Diamondbacks from was ineffectiveness, and Montgomery's 2025 is now in his hands. The option value began at $20 million, when Montgomery made his 10th start, and then went up to $22.5 million upon his 18th start. Not so sure about that. Pretty sure you pick up where you left off. Count stays as is.

The tweet even mentions inheriting the previous count: "Since the pinch hitter doesn't inherit a 2-strike count, all action will be charged to the pinch hitter"

I saw elsewhere he count is not inherited.

Guess we'll find out.

We'll see how they score it.

It was my impression the AB resumes as if there was a PH in the game. If the count was 0-2 the AB goes against the previous hitter, but any other count and the AB applies to the PH.

The point would be, you can't bring in a PH at 0-2 and if he strikes out, give the PH a K.

I for one just want to see them hit the ball the last month of the season. After September we won't have meaningful baseball for five months.

I just want to see us finish better than .500. I think that would be a great way to finish out the year.
