Someone posted they didn't care at all about women's basketball. I said they were the one program we have that has actually won a traditional team sport championship - they won the title in 2011.Sex Panther said:The Porkchop Express said:I feel like this incarnation of Aggie baseball had their shot and didn't win.Marvin said:The Porkchop Express said:
There's a bit of a difference between winning a championship and losing the last game. Thought Astro fans would grasp that.
There's also a bit of difference between "can" and "did"… unless you saying the baseball team is not capable of winning a championship.
Mostly because their coach had already resigned without mentioning it to anyone.
I'm still confused by this exchange... You think the unranked 8-6 - Aggie women's basketball team can win the national title... But the soon to be preseason #1 Aggie baseball team - with one of the best lineups ever assembled on paper - that almost won the national title last year... doesn't have a shot?
He just threw a 167 innings of 2.80 ERA baseball as a starter. No thanks to the pen.iBrad said:Project Gemini said:Mathguy64 said:

Why do you call that poster Ketch? I've noticed this for a while but don't know the origin
Can you really claim to be on Texags and not understand Ketch?
Does that mean you also don't know about Barnes and Doss as well?
Knowing who Geoff Ketchum is =/= Knowing why texasaggie2015 is called Ketch.
Geoff Ketchum is a derogatory character around these parts so I was confused why our most connected poster was consistently referred to as such. I missed the Rangers fans and Farmer bestowing the moniker on 2015 and am thankful for those who answered the question.
I've been on TexAgs since I was 15 years old. I'm 33 now. I've spent more than half my life on this hell hole.

Does Lance make sense as an opener when he first gets back? Shoot for 3 innings or 9 batters whichever comes first? All I do is Nguyen said:So long as LMJ is only allowed to go 4/5 innings at mostMathguy64 said:

Ok, so I agree with you and when I said opener I was not thinking more than every 5 days. In other words, a personal opener for Blanco or SpaghettiFarmer1906 said:redline248 said:Does Lance make sense as an opener when he first gets back? Anything that requires Lance to come back on less than five days rest worries me. Collin McHugh talked about moving to the bullpen and how the stresses on the arm aren't necessarily less just different.
I still maintain that a piggy backing dual rotation is the future, and we are set up for it now. Keeps innings down and arms more effective by rarely seeing the third time through.

I did say when he first comes back. Let him build up for a while throwing a few innings and gradually increase the load. Besides, he's not the type that will want to be held back for long, anyway.Farmer1906 said:redline248 said:Ok, so I agree with you and when I said opener I was not thinking more than every 5 days. But you can't have a pitcher who throws 1-2 innings every 5 days. He might end up with 40 innings on the year.
Brent Rooker’s extension with the A’s will pay him $30 million over the first three seasons, which would’ve been his arbitration years. Rooker, 30, has been a late bloomer who thrived with the A’s, and after they turned down opportunities to trade him, they instead extend him.

Biggest MLB questions right now: Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman drama, trade rumors swirl https://t.co/joaqRvjdTJ via @USATODAY

Quote:
There currently are eight teams showing at least some interest in Alonso, including the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox. But in the game of first base musical chairs where 11 teams have a new first baseman, Alonso is still left standing. He may have no choice but to return to the Mets on a short-term deal with an opt-out.
Quote:
The Houston Astros certainly wanted him back and offered a six-year, $156 million deal, but when talks stalled, they decided they couldn't afford to wait any longer until moving on.
Bregman, 30, a two-time World Series champion, certainly is drawing plenty of interest, but just not at the $200 million price range … at least not yet.
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has been vocal in his desire to sign him, and the team has spent only $52.5 million. Yet, with Rafael Devers not wanting to move from third base, Triston Casas at first base, and Vaughn Grissom and top infield prospects on the way at second base, GM Craig Breslow is hesitant.
The Detroit Tigers, with manager A.J. Hinch lobbying for him, certainly have an opening. If they sign him, the Tigers could be the favorites to win the AL Central. But there's still a wide gap in contract talks.
The Toronto Blue Jays, who continue to be left at the altar among free agents, have shown the strongest interest, but just how much more do they have to pay him than the next highest bidder with their high tax rates and distance from his home in Phoenix?
The Philadelphia Phillies would have interest, but only if they traded third baseman Alec Bohm, and their steep asking price is why Bohm still remains with the club.
The Mets could be the most intriguing team in the Bregman/Alonso sweepstakes. Several executives believe that if the Mets don't sign Bregman and move third baseman Mark Vientos to first base, they'll sign Alonso. And if they don't sign Alonso, they'll shift to Bregman.
The biggest obstacle for Bregman is that the St. Louis Cardinals also have a premiere third baseman on the market, and Nolan Arenado said he'll waive his no-trade clause to the Red Sox and Mets.
