Now that we're 2 pay periods into 2025 without a contract, I bet lady bregman is leaning on Alex to sign a damn deal already.

I really don't get the Altuve to LF talk. Hes got a noodle arm. Between him and Meyers guys would take extra bases all the time.
What if I told you he's taken reps at first base recently lol

6/156 AAV is $26M / year. 6/171 is $28.5M / year. That's a difference of $2.5M per year. I'm not Jim, but to me that seems like not a terrible difference. If we were talking about 5-10M per year difference, I'd be more inclined to just let it go.BQRyno said:
I like Bregman, but it's time to tell him and Boras to pound sand. You have to think they know Crane wants him and that they can twist his arm to get more with no other serious bidders.

This team was never, ever, ever going to pay Tucker money. Ever. And they probably shouldn't. Not giving out those kinds of contracts is a big reason this team has stayed competitive for so long. The Tucker trade was a master stroke, and exactly the kind of move you make to keep kicking the window open longer.
It kind of baffles me that some still can't see that.

Probably related to the rockets game and the last second shot to win

Don't usually care for DuBose but this is an interesting take.Today's intel is obviously more mixed, but I still think Bregman ends up coming back.

IMO, it's pretty clear that the national guys who are optimistic (Nightengale, Rosenthal, Heyman) are being fed intel from Camp Boras, and the locals who are pessimistic are getting info from…
They're signing Bregman, then trading him and Amen Thompson to Minnesota for Anthony Edwards and Correa.EastCoastAgNc said:Farmer1906 said:— Kenny Van Doren (@thevandalorian) January 28, 2025

Ari Alexander is on the locked on astros podcast live right now. He says 6/171 probably gets it done. 6/156 means he goes elsewhere. Don't shoot the messenger.
I wouldn't take it either. I'm trying to hastily redact the tantrum I threw the night the Spurs got the #1 pick in the draft and the Rockets had to settle for Amen at #4. he's been unreal in Januarylinkdude said:
Ehhh, I don't know if I'd take that. Amen might be a unicorn, he definitely ain't no Ben Simmons

I'm thinking we did and that's why they are rejecting the public offer.Mr.Bond said:
Didn't we allegedly increase the offer but it was never made public

Nope, and because he's being greedy and thereby hurting the team, our offer is now 5/125.

That's not how any salary negotiation works. Can you imagine applying and interviewing for a job, receiving an offer, countering the offer, and then being told because you countered, the next offer has just gone down from the original?

I'm dumbfounded at Alex's sheer stubbornness
If you decline the team's best offer and the team goes and hires somebody else to fill the position, absolutely, you have no right to expect the original offer to still be on the table. If nobody else Alex wants to play for is offering 5-6 years, then the Astros shouldn't be offering him that either. Make a fair offer for the market he has in front of him and if he leaves, then he didn't want to be here.EastCoastAgNc said:f1ghtintexasaggie said:EastCoastAgNc said:

Those extra $15M should be bonuses tied to performance, like winning gold glove, MVP, minimum
Games played, etc.
So pretty much my understanding is that Alex Bregman wants $30M a year.
— Michael Schwab (@michaelschwab13) January 28, 2025
Astros are at $26M.
There's the problem.
