with that being said if Polanco is signed that no doubt means Dubon is gone?texasaggie2015 said:

I gotta say the Astros' solution to getting new outfielders being putting guys there that don't normally play the OF is a little concerning - Altuve, Paredes, this guy.EastCoastAgNc said:AustinCountyAg said:
sorry if I missed it, but whats the reason for the interest in Jorge Polanco? Isn't he another 2B? Have him play second and move Tuve' to LF?
Switch hitter, can probably play outfield
Jesus, I forgot about the scoreboard. he's going to kill himself on the opening weekend crashing into that thing.EastCoastAgNc said:LF Jose Altuve #altuve #astros https://t.co/Xwg3goxthq pic.twitter.com/gNg2L1Wom0

That's a dumb take unless he's trying to buy something right at this moment worth millions upon millions of dollars. That cash is never worthless regardless of when it comes becomes its at that level where it'd would actually take a stupid amount of effort to spend it.EastCoastAgNc said:This is literally opposite of what Bregman wants.

Deferrals only help players in high state income tax areas. It'd be worthless for him and wouldn't benefit the Astros https://t.co/7N5coQYkry
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Myles Straw something other than a CF by trade that the Astros converted into an All-Universe caliber CF?Jose Cruuuuuuuuuuuuz said:

Maybe the real sore spot is that they want Bregman to play LF, which will lead to a new American League record for triples by every other franchise.
I agree with you, but you need to add a decimal and a couple more significant digits. Only about .1% of Americans have $5 Million in net worth. These numbers for our sports hero's have gotten so astronomical that we have forget how crazy it is.jja79 said:Mr.Bond said:

He's got more money than 99% of us will ever have. He doesn't live in the real world
The other way around. He started as an outfielder then he, like Pedro Leon, was moved to middle INF to build a Correa replacement. It didn't stick and by 2020 he was back in the OF.Booma94 said:Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Myles Straw something other than a CF by trade that the Astros converted into an All-Universe caliber CF?Jose Cruuuuuuuuuuuuz said:

Straw played a few games at SS for us if I am not mistaken. I can't remember the circumstances but seem to remember a game or two when that happened

All this Bregman talk about him wanting $30mm/yr reminds me of the old Patrick Ewing quote.

Why? What's the rush to get a contract signed?
Not sure why you say that. They are currently sitting on 33 long term offers. The only BS offer is from the Astros. This is all on the team to get the deal done. If not, he has his pick of teams offering him well above 30 mill a year.Mr.Bond said:07ag said:Mr.Bond said:

Personal opinion the longer this goes on the less it benefits alex

It's not worthless to him if it allows a team to offer more money than they otherwise would. Not saying we would, but implying the state tax benefit is the only benefit to the player isn't exactly correct. Also, I absolutely would not be shocked if states like California were working to close this "loophole".BMX Bandit said:
there is no benefit to Bregman taking deferred money. that why it worthless to him.
Honest question. Even in LF he doesn't have the arm to gun someone at 3rd, does he?EastCoastAgNc said:LF Jose Altuve #altuve #astros https://t.co/Xwg3goxthq pic.twitter.com/gNg2L1Wom0

He would have better luck sprinting to 3rd from LF and tagging the runner out.JYDog90 said:Honest question. Even in LF he doesn't have the arm to gun someone at 3rd, does he?EastCoastAgNc said:LF Jose Altuve #altuve #astros https://t.co/Xwg3goxthq pic.twitter.com/gNg2L1Wom0

I don't think Alex will fall off a cliff like Abreu did plus we know Alex's real age whereas Abreu was likely 2-3 years older so this contract wouldn't get him to age 38-39, which is what Abreu was.RC_57 said:
What always comes to my mind when thinking of a long term deal for Bregman is the Stros ending up with another Abreu situation.
