He can have 6/171 but 111MM are deferred until 6 years after he is done.

Alex had a chance at up front money and said no. If he wants that extra piddly $2.5MM/year that bad to save face, it will come at a cost.

Yes I'm serious. And yes I know deferring that much is really the equivalent of a much lower offer. Don't like it? Find some other chump to write the checks.

Actually signing Flaherty probably doesn't stop them from getting Alex. I looked on sportrac and their payroll is only about $120-130m even after signing Jack.

I feel like Rendon has done the most damage of anyone for future MLB players and is example A for teams not to make those deals. He really has cost a lot of players a lot of money IMO

the Rendon contract and the Kris Bryant contract are the two contracts that have changed the way teams (or more teams) look at long term deals

some players are going to lose their drive or edge once they are set for life. Especially if they have already won a championship / reached the pinnacle. And even more so when playing for a bad team

its why an ace Cy young type pitcher like Skubal is worth more than any position player. Almost a guarantee to win you a game in a short series or 2 in a long series.

Hader did as well right after we took the lead. Seemed like the team was out of juice by the end of the regular season after climbing out of that huge hole early. We underachieved the last 2 seasons and are due for a bounce-back one.

With how wide open the AL looks to be this year i hope Crane is willing to go over the CBT if we aren't already and the right opportunity presents itself. He's a big reason if not the biggest one why we're in this payroll situation like having to pay Pressly to pitch for someone else. I hope he's learned some valuable lessons.

I am a little confused on how it comes up with the hit type? Yesterday it took me three guesses and my first one had several in the wrong place and it showed a 1 out walk off triple. Today I just had 2 names wrong in the first guess and got it on the second guess. It showed no outs, but a walk off double.

Also why the best of 3 wildcard series are horrible. It's baseball - 162 games in the regular season where so much of the importance of how good your team is, is roster construction and especially the rotation. And that gets completely thrown out if you have a next level ace in a best of 3. It needs to be a minimum best of 5, although best of 7 is how it should be.
