We already have a really good right handed LF and some other decent options. Plus a lefty who can crush LHP who will need to be out there some too.

There is no hate. Would love to see him back on the team. As others on here I have only ever owned 1 player jersey and it's his, as do my wife and son also.

I don't hate him at all. But I care about the team more than I care about him, and believe he is not worth 6/180 (which seems to be what he is wanting). I don't want the team to sign him for more than 3-4 years and think it should have options in years 3&4. He is a third basemen who has had elbow issues twice now and has missed time due to injuries in recent seasons. His best attribute, his lack of strikeouts and good eye at the plate, seems to have dropped off significantly last year. So I would rather see the team move on without him instead of committing 30M per year going forward.

Question on contracts and opt outs:

If a player has an opt out after a few years, who pays him? Like, if after year 3, he opts out and no one picks him up, is he unemployed or what? Or if a team wants him, they have to pay the contract amount?

Why would he take the same money but without having the option to opt out?

The bigger question to me is why Alex would prefer fewer years and total dollars. Does he think he's getting big money when he's 35?

The idea would be to have a big year and opt out. If he fails then he has another 90 M left to soften the blow. I think it's a bad idea, but these players have supreme confidence in their self.

Soto took a chance on himself, and it paid off big-time for him. Bregman is not Juan Soto. He was at a completely different time of his career and talent level/potential.
