Where have you seen that Bregman would not play 3B if he comes back? I have been seeing that Paredes would move to 2B.Honolulu Blue said:
Agreed. As mentioned, he wants both a large annual salary and long term deal. He have to choose one, and his pride will cause him to bet on himself for a 1-2 year deal with player opt out.
Best suited for a short term deal is cubs and tigers. Astros and Sox have basically said he wouldn't play third, and that's not a route Bregman would choose if he wants to opt out for more money in a year.
He needs to choose a park where he can maximize performance if he goes the short term route. For doubles, that's comerica. For HR, that's wrigley. I doubt that distinction is a big deciding factor. Being with Presley and Tucker helps cubs odds even more. More protection in the cubs lineup (Tucker alone provides more protection than all of the tigers lineup)

Very.
All signs point to this being a very easy, obvious decision for Bregman.
Sad to see it play out like this, if it ultimately ends up in him taking a "bet on myself" deal over a petty thing like being paid less than $30M per year when $26 is on the table

The #Astros have improved their initial offer to free agent 3B Alex Bregman, two sources tell KPRC 2.

However, that improved offer is unlikely to get the deal done, according to a source. pic.twitter.com/7YP15V8fKy

I have a feeling this is what I mentioned about a month ago finally leaking out.

Called it last week. It'll get done.
Nice job by blue keeping track of it. Angel wouldn't have even made the effort and called it a foul ball.Farmer1906 said:The second effort was UNREAL on this @AggieSoftball catch 🤯

If he does go to Chicago, he will give 5% to the state alone. If it truly is about the average per year, surely that's gotta factor in. Unless he just won't that smart.
So give him the equivalent to that and make it 6/171mm with a team friendly opt out after 5 that would still pay him say $10mm.
It'd step but I'd push that.
