Best suited for a short term deal is cubs and tigers. Astros and Sox have basically said he wouldn't play third, and that's not a route Bregman would choose if he wants to opt out for more money in a year.


He needs to choose a park where he can maximize performance if he goes the short term route. For doubles, that's comerica. For HR, that's wrigley. I doubt that distinction is a big deciding factor. Being with Presley and Tucker helps cubs odds even more. More protection in the cubs lineup (Tucker alone provides more protection than all of the tigers lineup)
Where have you seen that Bregman would not play 3B if he comes back? I have been seeing that Paredes would move to 2B.

I can't read it all but right at the end where it starts to blur out, it says the Astros have come up some on the offer. I bet that it's in an effort to let Alex save some face and not look like he is coming crawling back to accept the original offer.

There was an improved but never stated offer above 6/156 that I remember hearing about.

So give him the equivalent to that and make it 6/171mm with a team friendly opt out after 5 that would still pay him say $10mm.

It'd step but I'd push that.
