I don't Want them signing Bregman for anything better than 6/120.

Which isn't going to happen.

Let the guy walk.. he's mid+ who disappears for weeks during the season while taking up valuable at bats in the heart of the lineup.

Except Crane is out of cookies….unless it's the fat kid then he has 156M of them

True for this year, but not having $30M on the books in subsequent years still helps us sign other areas of need

I think we look good at 3B foreseeable future

Wonder if he's going to retire? They can't possibly move him, and I'm sure they don't want to eat the rest of that contract

Before I didn't mind letting guys walk, but overpaying for Bregman buys some time for the farm system to get better over the next couple of years. 7-9 in the lineup look terrible without Bregman. We should have locked Tucker up a couple of years ago when he wanted a long term 200 million dollar deal. I want to know who said no to that.

Quick glance at baseball reference shows that this dude has gotten shelled his entire career.

I've done zero research other than a 15 second glance at his stats, but I can't imagine there being serious interest on this one. But maybe I'm wrong. I'm sure he would certainly be a bargain price tag

My only worry is that the $25-30M we give Bregman next year....ends up meaning we have an aging 3B with declining stats that could otherwise be spent on a more balanced team over the next 6 years.

He certainly makes us better for 2025. I worry about beyond that though, as Crane likely isn't going over the tax for too many years.

Why would Rondon retire? He doesn't get paid if he does right?

We could trade Jose Abreu ($19.5m) and McCullers ($17.7m) for Rendon ($38m) and solve the third-base problem for a good 55 games until he got hurt.

Of course Rendon goes off in the 2019 World Series to beat us and then has zero impact on the field in the years after.

Rendon is owed $38.5 MM this year. And next. Ain't nobody that dumb to touch that contract.

I mean even Ed Wade wouldn't take that on.

It was. Tucker turned down the 200 million dollar offer, but I think we could have locked him up for 225 million. That would have been a bargain for a 5 tool player as young as he is/was.

Dang, imagine grinding that long to make an MLB roster. At least if you're a first round pick you probably, hopefully, saved some money along the way.
