Top 3 postseason HRs?

1. Yordan WS Game 6, 2022
2. Altuve ALCS Game 6, 2019
3. Marwin WS Game 2, 2017
This is the correct order for me as well. We lose track of how big that Marwin HR was as time passes but it changed that whole series and helped bring us the first Championship in franchise history.

As an add-on, you could deploy in a way like this:
SP: Valdez, Brown, Blanco, Arrighetti, Wesneski
Swing: LMJ, Garcia
Back-End: Hader, Abreu, (+1 still needs to be added IMO)
Middle-Relief: Scott, Ort, Whitley, King

If a starter goes less than 5, you use more middle relief.
If the start goes , you use a 2-3 inning swing guy to get you through the 7th or 8th.
Then you are left needing 1-2 back-end arms to finish.

The variability of the output should allow for the swing arms to be used on a relative schedule every 3 days. Therefore, 1 out of 3 days you have to use the full bullpen more deeply IF the starter doesn't go 6+.

That's a pretty stout list -- really can't argue with it.

There are a few others to consider:
1. Yordan 2022 G1 ALCS walkoff against the Mariners.
2. Yuli Game 5 WS 2017
3. Jeff Kent 2004 NLCS walkoff
4. Chris Burke 2005 NLDS 18th inning walkoff -- would have been there if it weren't for a Berkman GS and Ausmus HR
5. Pena 2022 G3 ALCS 18th inning HR

My favorite is Gurriel's 3 run shot off Kershaw in Game 5 / 2017. Down 4-0 vs. Kershaw after he was so dominant in the first game just felt like we were circling the drain of "not quite good enough". All of the twists and turns of the rest of that game just felt like we were going to find a way to win no matter what.

Altuve's HR in the next inning off Madea was also fantastic, but prior to the bottom of the 4th, Kershaw had pitched 10 innings combined in Games 1 and 5, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, and strikeouts. He was headed for MVP honors and it totally fell apart.

That crowd was SO loud that night. I lost my voice for a week after that game!

The real reason Kershaw still cries about the Astros every chance he gets.

it was in a losing effort, but Billy Hatcher's foul pole dinger in 86 off Orosco in the 14th inning was a memorable postseason homer.

Underrated homerun IMO. This game was looking dreadful until this one and going down 3-1 this series would have been detrimental

You could also say his and Correa's in that ALCS game 1 win were also huge

Yes but...The buzzkill shortly after sucked.

And there has always been the lingering question in my mind: Did Billy use Dave Smith's batting practice bat?

Oof. Skipped class at A&M to attend that game. I haven't been to an Astros postseason game since. I won't do it.

Alvarez's game 1 Mariners and Game 6 Phillies HRs were absolute BOMBS and just makes these moments that much bigger. Hard to go against the game 6 WS HR as the best but I think we still win the series if he doesn't hit that.

In that moment, it was great. He launched that ball; the entire Dome was leaning towards right field...

Pujols' shot off of Lidge in the NLCS Game 5

That certainly elicited some emotions….

The two best homers I witnessed in person produced opposite ends of the fan spectrum. Pena's homer in Seattle, and Altuve's walkoff against Chapman. You could hear the 200-odd Astros fans as T-Mobile fans sat is dead silence. That was quickly followed by many "sit down, you f-ing cheaters" cries from those around us. And I've never seen an entire stadium lose its mind like when Jose hit that bomb. Pure joy- one moment a bit constrained and the other completely unbridled.

There was a Correa homer in there as well but I can't remember the game.

I was in the mezzanine under the scoreboard for that game and it got so quiet that we could hear the Cards bench cheering and yelling as he circled the bases.

Not sure what they mean by "local blackouts". There aren't local blackouts for the regional rights holder which I assume the Guardians are, given the fallout from Bally sports bankruptcy. I don't think this implies streaming outside the regional territory as that would violate the national games (at least in the past it would have).

I was 12 years old screaming, crying, throwing things and getting yelled at for waking up my younger siblings. After the events of 2004, that was probably the worst thing that had every happened to me to that point lol.

Without #1 that ALDS may have gone 5 games. Sweeping that series and the ALCS was huge.

Carlos being clutch:

This one still amazes me:

Jeez Louise, I'm old. I wasn't there but I did go to the extra innings WS game that followed that series.

I skipped a class in order to go to 2015 ALDS Game 4. Ended up missing a pop quiz worth 10% of my grade

Had to watch that collapse in person while trying to calculate how to salvage my already rough grade in that class

I was lucky enough to be there for this one. Loudest I've ever heard Minute Maid.

Great call from Joe Buck. And dang, I miss George.

I just need the DFW area to not be part of the Astros local blackouts. I get sharing the state, but they should have at least sliced out the metro areas where the teams reside.

1 billion deferred over the next 150 years. Dodgers are banking on the US not making it that long so they don't have to pay it out

how are other teams able to do this, when the Astros cannot do it profitably?

Totally overlooked home run since we lost the series but 2023 Game 5 against Arlington - Altuve 3 run homer top of the ninth to win game 5-4 was huuge! That was a fun home run and had we won the series would've been looked at as top 5 Altuve homer.

Should have been the back breaker in that series. How we couldn't manage to win one damn game at home that series totally baffles me

Should have been the clincher… I see that game 1 as pretty inexcusable. Lost 2-0 at home to a great starting pitcher (understandable) but a bullpen that should not have been able to shut us out

It's not like we haven't perfected the art of losing every home game in a series.

In summary he gone. If Alex goes to Boston it really screws up the Arenado stuff.
