I'd love to know if we have something strategic going on. We have to be the most right-handed org in baseball. Not just big league but even in the minors our best pitchers and hitters are righties. Have we decided the premium for lefties isn't worth it?Farmer1906 said:
I noticed this today:
Logan Gilbert
Luis Castillo
Bryce Miller
Bryan Woo
Emerson Hancock
George Kirby
Nathan Eovaldi
Tyler Mahle
Jack Leiter
Kumar Rocker
Jacob deGrom
Jon Gray
What do these pitchers have in common? Starters for our main ALW competition that are right-handed. We need to add some more damn lefties.
Why did they count these games already? Seems like something a sport with a dumb commissioner would do.gambochaman said:

Once again yet ANOTHER reason for robo-umps or at least the challenge system. Don't wait until next season, it needs to happen now.iBrad said:
Dykstra isn't the most credible of sources, but also the type that would actually do this, so who knows. This was from 2015 when he had a book coming out. Could be true. Could have been made up to generate interest in the book.
But players and teams have been doing everything they could to gain an edge for as long as the game has been played, so it's definitely believable.
That's true for all pitchers, so, correct!Mathguy64 said:Farmer1906 said:

Yordan Alvarez is being scratched from the Astros' lineup with a sore right thumb, Joe Espada said. Alvarez injured it on Sunday during BP in Port St. Lucie, played in the game, but then arrived today with soreness. Espada expects him to play tomorrow

For me, it's not that believable. Sounds like a good story to sell a book. I did a quick search and there are no follow up articles after the articles about his initial comments. MLB at the time said they were going to look into the blackmail claims, not outright defend the umps or try to discredit Dykstra. Says a lot to me.iBrad said:

The Texas Rangers sign veteran left-hander Patrick Corbin to a one-year deal while placing starter Jon Gray on the 60-day injured list with a broken wrist.

Cam Smith is on the reserve list today, so he will come into the game once the regulars leave. Joe Espada said we'd have to wait until the game starts to see what position he plays.

If you consume that much corn to the point you need a refill, you're gonna be spending the last few innings fighting for your life in the thunderbox.

Lance McCullers Jr. told the team's TV broadcast that he'll pitch again either Sunday or Monday to get an up-down. If it is Monday, McCullers said he'll probably stay back in West Palm Beach and throw on the back fields.

Maybe so, but I ain't one to back down from a challenge. I'd go all in on that bad boy.
