If Melton is the big outgoing part of a Cease trade, do it, even for rental. As much as the Astros have coveted him for years am interested in what they'd be able to get out of him.

He had nowhere else to go. If you wil recall the Mets had him signed to a monster deal pending physical which he failed, even though they used the same doctor San Francisco did who also failed him

Just a reminder that for all the rumors out there Dana hasn't gone crazy at the deadline. And yes the JV deal was a Crane special.

Maybe the various needs will result in Dana doing more deals this year.

Are there clubs out there we just won't do a deal with? For example, if we were sellers, I'd hate it if we worked a deal with Soyattle or Arlington. But I'm a fan, so that tracks. What about the front office?

I'd assume any divisional opponent (Seattle or Texas) given how tight the race will be.

Cease has shown that he has ace level stuff. It's definitely tantalizing to think about the possibility he could reach that level the rest of this season. I think the KUCHI experience and the variety of no name odds and ends pitchers the Astros pitching coaches turned into contributors on a top 5 staff give credence to the idea that could happen.

Crane is no dummy. If he's willing to absorb a significant chunk of the remaining contract he's going to get a good deal, especially if Correa cooperates.

Twins really should be trying to drum up competition for the Astros in pursuing Correa.

As long as it's just the Astros they aren't going to get a good deal.

There isn't competition. Correa holds all the power here.
