Cease is a pretty good buy low opportunity with high upside

Given what Murphy and Miller have done with lesser talents worth the prospect capital and risk with him hitting free agency this season

I had to google Roman Urias

didn't know him or remember him

but Correa's contract would zap some of the payroll freedom the Astros would enjoy after the 2025 and 2026 seasons

Correa deal is still alive I'm told. Cease is priority #1 but they're talking to a lot of different teams right now.

I was pushing for Cease in the 2023 season. The Sox were terrible, he was about to enter free agency, and he would have a been a great long term addition. I'd love to get that guy on the team now, he's in the middle of his prime years and still throwing well.

If you can get him back to ace level for Melton, you've made the best trade of deadline week.

I'll always remember Short fondly for his Dodgers series debut with us and the OPS higher than Judge's.

Out of 594 career PAs over 5 seasons, his .671 OPS over 56 PAs this season is his best. He's actually much worse than he's shown for us.

Shay's been consistently unplayable. No doubt Ramon is better than either option.

Yes you have some starting pitching talent returning off the DL but remember Javier and Garcia are coming off major surgery and haven't thrown in a MLB game for time. In Garcia's case it's been over two years. Look at how uneven McCullerd's performances have been this season.

I like the Urias deal for a few reasons

A) It added depth at no cost
B) It won't keep us from making any other moves
C) I think it gives us a tad bit of leverage

Dana can tell MIN to fck off. We got our replacement and we're moving on. When you're ready to be serious about a CC and/or Castro deal call me. But for now we're moving on.
