I'm sorry for getting everyone excited about Cease. I was about 99% confident that was finalized - as was just about everyone else.

It's crazy how fast things can change. At the end of the day, the Padres just never lowered their asking price. Good on the Astros and good on Dana Brown.

Really impressive deadline. I wanted an arm but I'm glad we didn't overpay.

We got better and gave up very few assets to do so. It's hard to complain about that.

I'll see what intel I can gather over the next few days and share what I can.

You report what you hear. No fault when things change. Things changed with Cam making the roster. It happens, and it's often good when it does. Everyone would have revolted if Dana gave up Arrighetti, Matthews, and more for two months of Cease. So, in that sense, I'm glad your intel was wrong.

Getting CC back was a great move, but I think the best move may have been a non-move. Good on Dana for not giving in to those insane demands for Cease.

That's twice now that attempting to deal with the Padres has gone poorly for us (previous time was for Snell and Hader). Maybe we should avoid that on the future.

At least afaik Crane is letting Dana do his thing and is willing to provide the financial support and flexibility to keep this team in contention.

As much as this thread *****es the Astros have had few truly bad contracts.

Letting Dana deal Tucker was significant and a sign Crane has confidence in Dana imo
