We do much better against good teams than weak teams. I am not sure having an "easy" remaining schedule is a positive thing for us given how we play down to our competition.

Man we need to find a way to get that bye... We're gonna need the rest.

I think this narrative is somewhat overblown. I believe we're in the top third of the league against teams under .500.

Could be better - but not anywhere as bad as some make it seem.

Teams we have a losing record again
Athletics
Red Sox
Guardians
Brewers
Giants
Cardinals
Rays
Rangers

I think losing against bat teams and winning against good teams is just more memorable. Maybe we should win a higher clip vs the bad teams, but we still play them better than good teams.

Will see if this team is able to "flip the switch" soon because they'll need to play over .500 ball over the last 47 games especially against the division. 26-21 gets us to 90 wins.

It's way overblown. The entire month of July we lost a starter per week and had to play more and more AAA guys, multiple who are not MLB players and a couple who are not ready.

Even bad teams' MLB talent is better than AAA talent that isn't ready or will never be MLB talent.

There was also a 2-3 week stretch where the pitching wasn't very good, including HB, and the lineup was 60%-70% AAA guys.

It's like losing a stater a week in July, one an All-Star and losing another All-star in August while playing non-MLB talent FINALLY caught up to the Astros.

I expect this team to win as they were with Pena before he went out.

Looks like we are 31-28 (.525; 7th in MLB) against >.500 teams and 33-23 (.589) against <.500 teams, so not as bad as I thought. I think getting swept in 4 games by the As and losing 5 of 6 games to the white sox had something to do with that perception.

You left off the CWS...we are 1-5 against them this year.

I think the team we saw against the Marlins is the team we will see moving forward -- pitching will be above average to good and offense will be above average to good. They will likely be in position to win each game -- save a clunker here or two -- and may blow a few -- but I think they'll probably go 27-20 the rest of the way. I still think they can get to 91.

Peña really lengthens the lineup and gets it going.

This offense is leaps and bounds better than where it was even two weeks ago. They haven't even gotten to play there a substantial amount of time with Pena being slow played.

I stand corrected. I must have looked at the wrong line on the schedule when counting them up.

Yes I'm aware of all the setbacks the team has overcome and share the same optimism albeit cautiously based on said never-ending injury bug. At this point I expect to hear about a new one after every game and have been very slow to criticize players this season (if at all) with how it's gone so far.

Last season's big turnaround started in the Bronx IMO, and I think this team has another good run or two in em to take the division and hopefully a bye.

He won't.

Ok. Joking aside, I'm 50/50 that he gets shut down again.

Jake on the other hand? Yeah. The black out on him is big time.

Every day of Astros' bingo I watch Yordan's paces dwindle and dwindle to the point that I think his current numbers are also his final numbers for 2025.

3 HR
18 RBI
.210 average

I wonder how much money Tucker is giving away by being lazy in the outfield? Somebody is still going to pay him a pile, but between his long absence last season and lollygagging this season, he has to be hurting his long term contract value.
Ag_07
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I don't think that is hurting him. I think it's more of his on-field production that's hurting his value.

the remaining SoS is deceptive, because the Astros have 19 games left vs. the AL West

and the 'stros are only 16-17 vs. those 4 teams

the matchups are tougher this year

I think I said earlier in the thread that 10 out of the 23 games against the ALW were in July when we had our worst roster quality-wise. Only 13 games through the first 3 months were a bit of weird scheduling by MLB
Drunken Overseas Bettor

Maybe the Cubs ignore Tucker and try to get a long-term lower offer on Crow-Armstrong. Guy is 23 has a halfway decent shot at 40-40 this year (currently 27-29). Tucker is the third best OF on his own team now
