Especially if they know that winning one might help us.

F Framber man
Takes the second half of the season off and contributes significantly to losing the division and then decides to get it together when the Astros are on the outside looking in for the last playoff spot
The Astros cannot run that guy off soon enough

I hear you, but man did he lose ALOT of money with his dismal 2nd half performance. Not to mention the bad look of the Salazar deal.
Something like 7/250 to now something for much less and maybe even a 1 year deal somewhere.

Get rid of doesn't imply trading for a good return.
I meant it as him not being back. I'd assume since he's under team control it would be a trade and you'd get a decent return.

Trade Sanchez - not due to his slump, but his fielding sucks too. He still has value
Trade Parades - we're stuck with Walker, Parades has good value and has 1 year left. I like his playing, but he's
a player with no home on the field here. Don't need a pudgy second baseman
Offer around Diaz - a lazy defensive catcher has been an issue. Hustles on offense, but no real DH opportunities
Yordan returning to play 140+ games is a must under any scenario

I honestly think everybody but Altuve should be available and we should be looking for high quality prospects and Rule 5 draft picks more so than short term replacements. We have a log jam of RHH and 3B and need to get some value out of guys like HB and JP before they leave next season. This season's experience with Tucker vs Framber should have taught us how the future should look. We got 3 quality players for Tucker and may be lucky to get a single draft pick for Framber.
We are not going to compete with LAD/NYM/NYY for the really top end FAs and signing the 3rd tier older guys like Abreu and Walker has clearly not worked out. The logical way to rebuild is the way that got us the dynasty we have enjoyed for the last 8 years...prospects and draft picks. There is no point trying to limp to a wild card spot next season only to watch JP and HB get poached by a big market team willing to overpay. I am in favor of ripping off the bandaid and getting started on a true rebuild now.
I highly doubt Crane is willing to do it, but that is the logical way for us to get back where we want to be as soon as possible.

Dick Williams, former manager of the Montreal Expos and a future Hall of Famer, knew Nolan Ryan was capable of the feat before Ryan knew it himself.
After the Expos barely avoided two no-hit bids on Aug. 19 and Sept. 4, Williams predicted that Ryan would have his fifth no-hitter in a matter of weeks.
"It's only a matter of time before Nolan Ryan gets another no-hitter," Williams insisted to Associated Press. "When Ryan's curveball is working, he is untouchable. The way he looked today, it's just a matter of time."
It had been six years since Nolan had thrown a no-hitter, and he was unsure he could do it, mostly because he wasn't sure he still had the endurance. It's kind of ironic that Nolan broke Sandy Koufax's record against Sandy's team, the Dodgers.

The last time we wound up in must win games the last weekend of the season, Jose Abreu (yes, him), stepped up and drove on both runs in a 2-1 win, the only run in a 1-0 win, and then hit a 2-run HR in the 8-1 win to finish the season.
The pitching obviously stepped up big time, as well, giving up two runs over 27 innings of baseball.
Who steps up for us this series? For the glass half empty crowd, "nobody" is an acceptable answer.
I think it's going to be Paredes, with Cole delivering a big HR in one of the games. The pitching will not be as dominant, requiring the offense to show up for all three games.

I love the Astros, and I want to see them succeed. That being said, ya'll might hate this take...but here it is.
If making the playoffs means we keep Joe and the hitting coaches and don't make significant changes to the roster, then I hope the Astros miss the playoffs. I'm afraid a playoff appearance will make folks forget how bad things really are, chalk it up to injuries and "bad luck", and just want to run it back another year.

Why would anyone give up on Sanchez?

Man yall couldn't wait until the season was actually over to start blowing it up and trading everyone.?
Sanchez is young and has potential. He's also controllable and cheap. All good reasons to keep him.

If you're deliberately trying to be condescending, that's fine.
I said I'd keep him but I'd understand if they don't see him as a part of the future plans given he cost pretty much nothing to acquire (Ryan gusto was the price) and they might seek value elsewhere.
Ag_07 said:
If this roster is so bad that it needs to be blown up why would you expect a good haul of young talent in return?
Apparently Sanchez sucks at all it took was Gusto to get him
Walker is old and washed
Diaz is a lazy bad defensive catcher with no plate discipline
Why would they get anything close to a good haul for those guys?

Don't think I've ever disagreed with a post more.
Parades is 26 years old, only getting better and under a team friendly contract. You keep him.
