Rising star after a great 2022 season.
Crazy to see that he’s out of chances with Cleveland.
He’ll get a shot somewhere as a team tries to fix the issues. https://t.co/2tc8tCkYsl

This is going to come at the cost of a lot of injuries. Trying to get pitchers to go at world series level during spring training is not a great idea.
Maybe, maybe not, but the WBC is great for baseball, the last one was one of the better international sporting tournaments in years, and the players from all over the world clearly cared deeply about representing their countries and winning it. I am not swayed by arguments that it should be all JV teams because of hypothetical possible injuries.
In '94 when I was home from A&M, I got a 20-game mini season ticket plan for $200. Fortunately all of the games were before the strike. I was there on a Monday night when the team got down 11-0 to the Cardinals and won 15-12.agproducer said:As late as 1997 -- you could get a pavilion seat at the Dome for $4, and parking for $4. We had AT&T when they were only on Comcast in that stretch so I also didn't see them play on TV for a long time. . In 2013, we rented a beach house in Galveston, ideal for 2 1 year olds, and I was so enthused to see the Astros on TV for the first time. Got in the beach hours, turned on Comcast, and they were losing to the A's 10-0 in the 4th inning.tjack16 said:The Original Houston 1836 said:That app seems to take a lot of pleasure in making me recall the misery of the 2000 Astros.superaggie73 said:
I didn't remember how long Wandy was on our roster.
Gotta love the questions about 2008-2014 Astros. Especially the pitchers
2013 was rough. But those were the glory days where you could buy a ticket with a Powerade label for like $3 and then scoot all the way up to the dugout seats. You almost always watched a beat down of a game, but it was much more cost effective than it is now
$4 x 2 adult tickets = $8
$1 x 2 child tickets = $2
$1 for parking = $1
I loved the outfield seating at the Dome. I wish Daikin had more of it.
You could do it mid season IF you ditched the ASG and cut the season back to 148 games or so. It would probably take some weekend DHs too.EastCoastAgNc said:Beau Holder said:EastCoastAgNc said:Mark DeRosa pushed hard to manage Team USA again in the 2026 WBC.

Yeah that's kind of the problem. There's never a good time to have it. During spring training isn't good. After the season isn't good. Certainly can't do it mid season.

Of course cutting back games is a complete deal breaker for owners.

Seems like you could make the All-Star Break 2 weeks and tell guys who are considering the Olympics to decide if they are opting in for the Olympics or not. Everyone who is going to be on the Olympic consideration list is exempt from the All-Star ballot.Beau Holder said:EastCoastAgNc said:Beau Holder said:EastCoastAgNc said:Mark DeRosa pushed hard to manage Team USA again in the 2026 WBC.

I think the NHL just showed you can in fact do an int'l tourney midseason. Just replace the now completely worthless HRD and All-Star Game with it on those years.
But if they don't, I don't actually care that it's during ST.
He's also much better away from Rogers Centre. Don't feel great about this matchup. HB gonna need to be on his A gameFarmer1906 said:
Meyers, Altuve, and Walker are all terrible vs splitters. Gausman throws more splitters than anyone. From '23-'25. he's thrown 2255. The next closest is Eovaldi at 1555.

Some notes from Espada:
— Brian McTaggart (@brianmctaggart) April 21, 2025
-Walker is getting a “breather” today.
- Ort could be activated tomorrow.
- McCullers will throw a bullpen tomorrow/Wednesday and could make a rehab start at the weekend.
