Did anyone catch the stats for Paredes batting with men in scoring position? It might be better to keep him 3rd or 4th in the order.

I don't think the "golden era" is coming back, but keep yourself in playoff contention and a lot of weird things can happen (ala Cardinals and Giants, and to a lesser extent Rangers and DBacks as recent examples). Just have to be the best team over a 4-ish week stretch.

Not saying we can't get to 90+ wins on the reg, especially if the league trends more on the downswing compared to the NL.

I've found myself feeling the most confident in run production when Paredes comes to the plate. I hope Joe will continue to tinker with lineups that put Yordan at 2. And I think sliding Isaac at 3 or clean up is a good spot for him as well

I think Yordan is really feeling the effects of Tucker not being in the lineup this year. He isn't getting as many good pitches to hit because he's had Walker behind him who has been a disaster. Putting him at 2 between Jose and Isaac might force pitchers to attack him more, which would give him more pitches to turn on

We talked about this yesterday. Tucker has batted directly behind him <70 times over the last 2 seasons. It was a mix of Abreu, Bregman, & Diaz as well.

Yeah I don't see Cam being ROY so it's likely a moot point. I didn't know HB was still eligible for PPI though so that was exciting news. You could potentially get an extra pick between the first and second for HB and another between the second and third for Framber.

The field does feel stacked, but he's got a shot. The last odds I saw were that he would tie in 8th place with Roman Anthony.

My DTC solution is a yearly MLB.TV subscription and a monthly subscription for ExpressVPN. For the season, it will cost me around $235 or just under $40 per month.

Now I could just switch from YouTubeTV to Fubo, which would be a $20 per month increase and about the same amount ($240) per year, but I just don't want to deal with the hassle of getting my wife and all of her shows set up. Plus, I could theoretically cancel YouTubeTV and still watch the Astros for $240 per year.

I doubt it would work from a legal standpoint given all of the existing contracts teams currently have, but it would be cool to see MLB partner with someone like Apple for exclusive broadcast rights for every team. Every game broadcast in the same quality with the same graphics, etc. Absolutely no blackouts. Teams would still manage their on air personalities, but viewing would be through AppleTV for all teams, though Apple could redistribute for viewing in local markets.

But, sounds like nothing is on the horizon, so I'll maintain the model I currently have for watching games.

I feel like it's far enough into the season to admit my new favorite player is Brendan Rodgers because he's something the Astros haven't had in forever - a professional nuisance late in the order.

Read a lot about his story yesterday. He was drafted between Bregman and Tucker in the 2015 draft and had some incredible minor-league seasons and had a fantastic 2021 with the Rockies (.285, 15 HR, .798 OPS) ad a decent '24 (.267, .721 OPS) but has lost a ton of time to injuries.

Obviously not living up to his draft position, but I like him extending at-bats and being a pest for the opposition. You know how much Dubon must suck to be overjoyed by Rodgers' .250 average and .645 OPS, but he feels like the guy that post-cheating Reddick and Marisnick were on past teams - not going to make an All-Star team, but not the automatic out who can't do **** either.

He's on pace for about 58-60 walks this year after never reaching above 45 in his career. He is striking out a ton, but what Astro isn't? A lot of guys in his shoes that didn't have things go their way would have been content to just take a check and play 2B for the Pirates or the Blue Jays or some team going nowhere. I just love that he saw the Altuve move, realized the situation, and got after his agent to get him here.

And looking exactly like Daniel Faraday is the icing on the cake.

For my birthday Mrs Mathguy decided to make me hate myself. She gave me a tiny brick kit for an astrodome. I already had one for Minute Maid.

This is what I started with. And I'm half way through after 3 days of using tweezers to hold tiny little bricks. I still have to make the dome.
