Rangerettes lose 2-1 to the A's!!! That corn fed Miller dude throws some serious gas. A's aren't too shabby.

So, you're saying there's a chance.

Refreshing to see the offense come alive after going down 3, especially against a good pitching staff. Just keep managing this long stretch of quality teams

AL West playing strong out of division so far.

I'd be ok with extending Pena and pay him like a top 10-15 SS.

Pena might be interested in an extension

because, unfortunately for him, he hits free agency at age 30 after the 2027 season

would offer 5 years for $100 MM to have him thru the 2030 season (his age 33 year)

according to baseball reference his career earnings are only $6 MM to date -- so he might be interested

Leadoff Pena should be good for 40-50 SB a year

The CBA expires after the 2026 season to add another variable to the mix.

Wasn't too long ago that down 3 runs was insurmountable so happy to see we've got some life. M's just put their ace on the shelf for two weeks with "forearm tightness" and we all know how that story ends.

Someone mentioned the pillow fight for the CF job…Chas followed up a strong showing by going 0-3 with 3 Ks in a game where the Astros only struck out five times as a team. He was the only starter without a hit, too.

Feels like we're headed to a Dubon start in CF soon.

Nobody wants to be the CF, apparently. I would like to see Chas get to at least 50 or 60 ABs. Jake has 73 already, and is 2 for his last 21 (and not a single walk)

Astros Bingo Update 4-29-25

Win pace up to 87
Yordan up to 98 RBI pace
Walker and Paredes both on 23-HR pace
Hader up to 46-save, 110 K pace
Abreu up to a monstrous 52 hold pace (MLB record in the high 30s)
A's up to 84 win pace (barrier is 75)
Shohei down to 34 HR, 39 SB pace (target is 50/50). He had 2 HR in the first 3 games of the year, and just 4 in the 26 games since. Is he deferring his home runs for 2032?

MLB doesn't deserve him the way he's been wrongfully vilified. I ****in love that man. My all time favorite athlete

I'd rather see Air Bud from those Golden Retriever movies before Dubon.

My wife gets mad every time the HEB commercial comes on and I say how much he sucks.

Idk if this is accurate but it feels like Joe and co. are over-managing the lineup

Yeah but I also can't say I blame them.

He's not getting what he needs out of the big sticks so he's got to shuffle things around to try and shake something loose.

My complaint is by now they should know Dubon ain't it. Shake another branch for God's sake.

My problem is that they will have a lineup that gets hot and has a big game, and the next day the guys who sparked it get a rest day and we put in guys who haven't done jack. I would like to see us put in a lineup that puts up crooked numbers, and then ride with that lineup intact for a few days to see what they can do consistently before started to F with it again.

This is how I feel as well. This isn't little league where everyone on the bench needs a chance to play. We already know what we're getting from Dubon, we don't need to try it every other game.

There are 25 games left until we're off on Memorial Day and nearly a third of the way thru the regular season. Go 15-10 in that span and we're sitting at 30-23 on a 90+ win pace which is a very reasonable goal especially if we handle biz this week.

It is more than just plugging in guys like Dubon damn near every day, it is moving guys around from spots where they were successful. We did it last spring with Bregman, when he wasn't hitting for crap. Joe would move him down to 5-6 and he would go off and hit everything. So 1-2 games later Joe would move him back to the 2 hole and his bat would go quiet again. Same thing this year. Meyers was finally hitting in the 9 hole. So we immediately move him up in the lineup to nip that in the bud. The pressure of getting moved up gets to him and he suddenly can't hit anything. Now he is back at the 9 hole and can't even make contact, much less hit effectively. I get that analytics is a thing and for some reason they think Dubon is just waiting to go off, but at some point you have to also just let guys play and settle into a role with what is expected from them.

I get what you're saying and I generally agree but at the same time moving a guy up in the order who's doing well is riding the hot hand.

When Jake was hitting well in the bottom 3 there was no one doing anything in the middle. When you need to find production you're going to move the hot hand up. Same with Bregman. He got moved up because Pena was crap and he needed production int eh 2 hole.

That's not a manager problem. That's a player problem.

So do we want him riding the hot hand or having a consistent lineup?
Mr. Awesome Time
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The lineup looks much better with Jeremy at or near the top, Yainer hitting sixth, and Jake/Chas in the bottom third where they belong.
Hornbeck

The lineup looks a lot better with Dubon not in it.

Is Rodgers bound for the IL or what?

Nope

He played as a defensive replacement last night when Dubon moved to LF.

I tend to agree - except that last night he should have been in the line-up. He was the only Astro with a good career numbers vs. Flaherty

Which is a head scratcher. Why does Espada insist on rolling Dubon out there night after night with spotty results if there's a better option on bench? Is this an Abreu situation?
