Yep. 41 total on he 40 man but 3 are on the 60 day IL and dont count. We have 2 spots to play with.

The 3 are Javier, LuAce and Pornstache so there is a tone of time still left for them.

So -- with Rodgers -- do we think he opts out May 1? Doesn't he have a second opt out on June 1?

If he left and with Matthews lighting it up at 2B at SL, think he comes up?

Guess y'all missed my post highlighting that Dubon has reached based safely in his last seven starts and is hitting close to .300 without striking out during that span.

Now carry on with the Dubon hate. I've probably jinxed him. 0-4 with 3 Ks coming tonight.

Smith needs off days too. He'll have gone from playing an SEC and minor league schedule to a full 162. Need to ease the guy into a full major league season.

I'm OK with giving the kid a day off here and there.

His first off day helped him a lot and he seems to respond well to them.

As long it's not a more regular deal where he's multiple games then I think I'm alright with this.

I'm 100% ok with it. The Astros and the rest of the league has learned giving guys off days increases season productivity as well as keeps them more fresh for the postseason.

Why anyone wouldn't be ok with giving guys an off day is beyond me.

I think it is battered Astro syndrome. After Dusty, we all assume giving a young guy a rest day means he will be irretrievably buried under the dugout bench for at least the next 5 games.

Pretty sure SD signed him to a minor league deal and he played his way on to the roster.

I just don't see a need for a right handed exclusive 1Bman
