Tucker's current dWAR is -0.3

After the way he handled his injury last year and the organization's feeling he sand bagged his rehab, I actually do think he is lollygagging in the field this year for a contract.

Damn, don't watch for the faint of heart. Similar thing happened to a Rangers fan a while back after going after a ball

In critical condition. What's weird is it seems intentional. Guy must have been incredibly drunk and excited at the play otherwise (maybe he was trying to jump on the seat but the momentum of his weight while jumping flipped him over?)

Lol remember when I accidentally posted a tweet about JV on the wrong thread and got banned for a week. Funny how that hasn't happened to anyone else.

(And for the record I think that would be ridiculous for anyone on either side)

I guess he just didn't love the process last year when he was freaking awful. Odd in a contract year. If he had played like this teams would've lined up to sign him to a big contract.

Astros Bingo Update

86 win pace

Pena!
Pena's first homer in a long time, back up to a 22 HR, 27 SB pace
Pena takes over the team OPS lead at .771.
He's also taking over the batting average lead at .282. A month into the season and he's
playing at true All-Star pace.
He's also on pace for 92 runs scored, 167 hits, 27 doubles, 65 RBI, 54 walks, and 108 strikeouts.
Every single one of those would be a career best for Pena other than doubles and RBI. His career high in walks is 43 and his career low in strikeouts is 111. Really exciting, and if he starts batting leadoff every day, the runs and stolen bases should go up faster.

Averages
Yordan's average holds at .219. Jake and Jose's averages go up for the first time in a week.

Old Friends, Long Gone
Bregman hits another homer, up to 7 for the season and a 35-HR pace. Before this year, the most HR he ever had by May 1 was 5 in 2019 when he almost won MVP. He's had a monster start to the season and is on pace for 116 runs scored, 207 hits, 56 doubles, 122 RBI, and a .328/.401/.584 slash line. If it wasn't for Judge, he'd be the MVP favorite. The only concerning # is a marked increase in strikeouts. On pace for 137 strikeouts and only about 75 walks.

Meanwhile Pena's former position holder Carlos Correa had one of the worst months of his life, especially when presumably healthy. Hitting .215 with 1 HR and 8 RBi and he's played 30 games.

Verlander is still 0-2. You don't feel bad for him overall considering the literal assets, but the COVID year and his subsequent injury are going to cost him getting to 300 wins and being in the inner inner inner all-time circle. 1 game started in 2020-2021 when he was still prime Verlander is really lousy.

Everybody Else
Ohtani remembering how to run fast, probably to get away from changing diapers up to a 36 HR, 47 SB pace
Dodgers on chart for 110 wins
White Sox for 124 losses. Also kudos to the Rockies for winning Game #5 of the season last year.
A's up to 84 win pace.
Judge hits a homer, back on track for 52
Very excited about the Angels. Trout left a game hurt yesterday after playing 29 straight, and the Angels lost to get to a 95-loss pace. They're going for it!

Agreed. I didn't think there was a chance in hell of that happening. But if he keeps this up he might.

Not a fan of 7. I like the expanded playoffs. Gives you a good chance if you get hot late, and protects from injuries. The best team will typically come out on top in the long run.

The As are gonna surprise some people this season and are putting together a nice core for the future.

They're in the top 10 in MLB in BA, SLG, and OPS. They're pitching is mediocre but they have really nice pieces in that lineup. Langeliers, Kurtz, Soderstrom, Butler all good young players.

I think the future is bright for the As.

This is all with the caveat that they don't trade away all their good young players to the Yankees while they're controllable.

Seems fine to me. That looks standard for stadiums everywhere and there aren't fans constantly falling everywhere. You can't have a rail right in someone's face who's sitting down in those seats.

Maybe he shouldn't have been hammered drunk (assumed based on the video) and leaning way over.

I think 7 teams per league is too much. I'd prefer they went back to two divisions per league and a 6 team playoff. All division winners get a bye and the remaining 4 teams play a 3 game series with higher seed getting all home games. If you want more games then make the ALCS and WS 9 games instead of 7. 9 games is more of a baseball number anyway. You can do 3 game series at each home park.

I like that approach. I think more teams getting in the playoffs is good for the league. I wouldn't go more than 12 and water it down further but 6 from each league is fine.

Ok, I am trying to follow along with what you are saying and can't make the math work unless I am misunderstanding. If you are saying 7 teams per division is too many and you only want a total of 4 divisions (two per league), how do you handle fitting 30 teams into that when 4x6=24?

That is why MMP and NRG have the plexiglass on the rails. Allows them to be higher and not impede line of site. Not saying they are in the wrong, but this will be a big case for someone when they can prove that other stadiums plan for just this scenerio.

As a very tall person, guard rails really freak me out. Our second story landing's railing is lower than my waist, and I'm always thinking a dog is going to trip me (hopefully not on purpose) and send me to my death.

I would require a division winner to have a minimum # of wins to hold onto its bye

e.g. the West division winner gets a bye once reaching 90 wins

if it only reaches 88 or 89 wins...then the first East division wildcard gets the bye (if it has 90+ wins)

the NFL should have done this a long time ago
