I assume his family's last name was Van Wey, before coming here and my guess is Ellis Island smushed it together. I guess the lower case is to let folks know it's "VanWey" not Vanwey. Van is meaning location in Dutch

I've seen a lot of craziness from Astros baseball in half a century, but few days compare to putting my phone on silent down 0-3 to the ChiSox to watch Thunderbolts* and then turning it back on 2-1/2 hours later to read that Jake has gone 4 for 4 with 7 RBI.
