Astros Bingo Update 5-4-25

Tick back up to an 86-win pace

After racking up 4 stolen bases in a 6-game stretch in early April, Pena hasn't had one since April 22.

Don't look now, but Diaz is hitting .218. His average has come up 75 points in his last 10 games, and his OPS has come up 203 points in the same span.

Your new team leader in OPS: Jake Meyers at .780.
Jake also now hitting .295, 65 points above his bingo square

Altuve down to .268. He is in a 9-for-49 slump (.184) and his run pace is down to 76.

Daniel Faraday on pace for 111 starts (100 is the magic number)

Hunter Brown is on pace for a 25-5 record. I believe the Astro win total record is 22. 25-5 (.833) - Hunter's projected winning percentage would be second all-time to Mike Hampton's (.846) during his remarkable 22-4 1999 season that got him traded with Derek Bell to the Mets for Roger Cedeno, Octavio Dotel, and Kyle Kessel - who played terrible basketball at A&M for a couple of years. Also, Hampton possibly got traded for sleeping with somebody's wife (rumor).

Abreu on pace for 51 holds (MLB record) and 101 strikeouts (both bingo squares)

Kyle Tucker bombs #9, pace is 43
Trout misses another game, down to 147 pace
White Sox back up to 118 loss pace (115 is the mark)
Dodgers take 2nd straight from Cub, up to 113 win pace (108 is the mark)
Shohei hits a homer, up to a 39 HR, 44 SB pace
Judge hits #11, on pace for 54 HR, 162 RBi, 265 H (MLB record), and still batting .432 with a 1.312 OPS.

As a frequent critic who thought LMJ would never pitch again in the majors, I couldn't be happier to eat crow and be wrong today. Even if everything goes south, this has at least the potential to be a great day in Houston Sports - LMJ back on the mound and the Rockets hosting a Game 7 playoff tonight.

For anyone that forgot or maybe is new, let me reintroduce you to Lance MF McCullers.

Thanks to a "reach" from Jeff Luhnow by selecting Correa at 1/1, there is a little extra money (2.4 M under slot!) in the pool. That money leads to being able to steal Lance away from college and pay him over slot.



At only 21 years old, in mid May, the kid got the call everyone dreams they get. The balls on this kid too. He decides to wear ****ing Batman cleats. Recently, Josh Reddick (who was on the As at the time) talked about how pissed they were. We didn't know it at the time, but it was a very Lance start. 4.2 inning, 93 pitches, 1 ER, 5 K, 3 BB.



The real legend of Lance takes shape in October of 2017. He closes out game 7 with 24 straight curveballs and there wasn't a damn thing the Yankees could do about it. He would go on to start game 7 of the WS as well. He even moved to the delayed TJ and moved to the bullpen in an effort to repeat in 2018.





When **** hit the fan in 2020, Lance was a true ride or die for his boys.

Then when the dynasty was transitioning from the '17 core to the '22 core, he stepped up in a lot of ways until the injury bug got him. The 2021 ALDS - 10.2 IP, 0.84 ERA, and started 2 of the 3 wins. The 2022 ALDS - 6.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, and started the game 3 sweep.




He had his ups and downs along the way. Since his debut in 2015 (min 700 IP), LMJ ranks 24th in ERA, 13th in FIP, & 18th in K/9.

Funny to think back to Game 3 of the '22 WS with Lance pitching. We got crushed 7-0 to go down 2-1 in the series.

Next 3 games were:
Combined no-hitter
Chazzy's catch in the 9th to rob Realmuto
The Yor-bomb that basically won Game 6

I assume because he's back to looking like a guy who played like 25 games in the minors. He had a big chance to change the game 1 loss when he came up with the bases loaded and didn't, and I feel like it was Ks before and after.

A reset helped him last time and Dezenzo needs ABs.
