That's the Twins trying to drive a better deal for Correa. They know they are stuck with him and that contract and they want no part of it. They have to know they will need to sweeten this deal with someone like Castro or eat a bunch of that contract.

Crane is no dummy. If he's willing to absorb a significant chunk of the remaining contract he's going to get a good deal, especially if Correa cooperates.

Twins really should be trying to drum up competition for the Astros in pursuing Correa.

As long as it's just the Astros they aren't going to get a good deal.

There isn't competition. Correa holds all the power here.

Unless another bidder emerged

Unless another bidder emerged

He will only waive his NTC for one team

It doesn't matter how many bidders. Carlos has a no trade.

Yes I'm sure these phantom possibilities are also being referenced by the Twins GM. Call the bluff Dana.

How many other teams need a .700 ops 3B or SS? Especially with his contract?

Teams know at this point where they stand, so this seems like a negotiating tactic.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

That pesky NTC causes problems. It would cost them even more money you buy him out if it.

He had nowhere else to go. If you wil recall the Mets had him signed to a monster deal pending physical which he failed, even though they used the same doctor San Francisco did who also failed him

yes, which means the Twins had the leverage...and they gave it all away

They've come to the right team. Almost all of our players have at least one working arm and leg.

Rental right handed third baseman. Eliminates the correa deal. Hopefully there's more offensive moves to come in addition to this

Problem is they currently owe Carlos all the money

Yup, Twinkies are playing this horribly. That's a GIGANTIC anchor of a contract and they're acting like they've got a coveted gem that everybody wants. They can only trade him to ONE team so the Boras tricks of "we've got many suitors on the line" just won't work here.

I for one and thrilled to have another sub .700 ops right handed bat in this lineup.

Another year of control after this one. Poor man's Dubon as far as this season, but we're pretty poor on infielders at the moment.

Yeah you're right... Hopefully we have up very little for him. Surprised they wouldn't try and get Mullins too

While yes Astros have some significant needs at the deadline, especially as confirmation has started to leak that Paredes is likely out at least the remainder of the regular season.

But a potentially smaller move that could pay dividends come the postseason would be acquiring a catcher who can do better than being 54th in baseball in throwing out base runners attempting to steal a base.

https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/catcher-throwing?game_type=Regular&n=q&season_end=2025&season_start=2025&split=no&team=&type=Cat&with_team_only=1&target_base=All&sortColumn=rate_cs&sortDirection=desc

Now carrying 3 catchers might seem like overkill, but Caratini's flexibility in being able to play first and the uncertainty of Yordan's return thus creating opportunities at DH might make this more than workable.

Yes let's everyone b**** and moan about this, oh wait, you'd rather have Urias playing third over whitcomb, and then Dubon slides to the outfield where you'd rather him be playing over Chas/Hummell. And you probably give up hardly anything. Seriously what's wrong with this move if the market is demanding an insane return for the headline players in this market?
