The year off was a killer. Instead of getting MLB at-bats on a non playoff team like Langford he was recovering from back surgery.

Completely agree that he needs to go down. I think even if he gets hot he needs to get a good of AB's.

I also believe he will figure it out. If they are just giving him time to work on things and he is not injured the. He will be so much better for it.

On a side note, if Carter was rushed to the majors then was Langford rushed as well?

I think every player is on a different timeline. Some are ready faster than others, or can at least adjust to different levels at different speeds. Carter's biggest problem is the COVID lost season and his back injuries have limited his plate appearances against lefties. Which is why he is currently at AAA and being developed at 22 years old.

Calling up Corbin after no minor league starts makes me nervous. Surprised we didn't call up a AAA starter for a
spot start.

I think people forget that we knew Carter had major major holes in his game (or swing) when we called him up, and while he absolutely helped us win a WS, he still had and has those major issues and then a career threatening injury.

This is why I'm so glad to see Pillar playing well. Fans won't worry about Carter if the team is winning and the outfield is playing well. Let him work through his issues and continue to develop without any pressure to be needed on the big league club.

Going to lump all of my responses into one post.

Yes, I was completely opposed to bringing Carter up when it was first mentioned on this forum, which started pretty early in the season. I was still concerned about it when he finally did get the call, but he did so well initially it was a moot point.

Comparing Langford to Carter is apples & oranges, because Carter was drafted straight out of HS - where he missed the entirety of his senior season because of covid cancellations - and Langford played in college, which is not terribly different from the lower minor leagues. Counting college, Langford as already had aroudn 200 more ABs than Carter. Also, Carter never put up the stats that Langford did offensively. It was obvious that Langford was ready (.333 at Hickory, .405 at Frisco and .368 at Round Rock). Carter's stats, though good, weren't nearly as stout (played the majority of the season at AA, hit .284 there and then got hot at the end of the season briefly in AAA and then with the Rangers).

I agree that calling Carter up at the end of the season was the right thing to do, and helped get the Rangers a WS championship. But those conversations started on here much, much earlier and I was against it at that time. Frankly, IMO you sort of lose the right to complain about the Rangers not developing players when you don't allow them the time to develop.

I would gently remind everyone how so many were clamoring to bring Justin Foscue up last season, and we saw how that worked out. Langford is a generational talent, he's the exception, and he struggled early on.

I really like Carter and I hope he can figure it out and get back up to the majors sooner rather than later. Time will tell.

I am too but I always think of him going nuts when the Odor /Bautista fight happened.

Remember Langford is actually older than Carter.

Corbin is a proven SP that has become an Innings guy. I think ideally a couple GS in AAA could benefit him...

The other guys... the 1st 3 in AAA rotation all all question marks. 33, 36...not much of a track record in MLB the past 2 seasons. I think those guys need more Minor appearances before we can trust them. And once they get brought up... we don't have much leash to play with. We may not be able to send them back down.

We could have let Foscue developed in the minor leagues the rest of his career and he will still suck in the big leagues lol

Fastball already has more juice and life than it did in Cincy. Rocker was about 95 in Cincy, and is 97+ so far today.

This is really what I wanted to see first from him today. Now start placing that fastball better and mixing in your offspeed.

Nice easy first inning from Rocker

Really smart play by Rocker to allow that ball to go past him knowing his defense was right there.

Really unlucky for Rocker. Good job by Seager to save the run for now.
