Clearly CLE is a big threat, and if HOU were to crater, that series with CLE could be for a wild card spot. Holding a one game lead going into that would be critical, since one TEX win would clinch.

That last series @ CLE could be devastating to my already questionable mental health.

Yeah and Cleveland gets to host the CWS this weekend too. Those are pretty much layup games, so they are likely going to stay right on the Rangers ass, even if we win the Mets series.

Go back 10, 20, or 30 games and the WS have a better record than Cle. They are playing better ball and aren't a gimme (like the Twins).

I wouldn't worry about Cleveland.

If Cleveland catches us, then we aren't catching HOU/SEA.

I agree.

Cleveland has a 3H/3A with Detroit. If we're competing with them for a slot in the final series, we don't deserve need to be in.

The upside of that is, if Detroit takes care of business with them (4-2) they might mail it in, while the Dodgers face Seattle in their final series.

It's a very real scenario if HOU continues to slide. But it's also why I added the CLE playoff % to TEX. It assumes that if we play well enough to catch HOU or SEA, we would also hold off CLE.
