As much as people talked about the expected offense, thus team was built around pitching and defense. Arms and speed at all 3 OF positions. Strong up the middle. Solid backup infielder.
The problem is that it made it really difficult to upgrade offensively. Everywhere you look on the field, you see a plus defender and an average bat. When you spend big money, you want to be upgrading an average defender with a crappy bat. Everything about this offense said "stand pat."
This off-season is the time to change. This team needs to figure out where to shuffle the pieces they have, without wrecking the defense, and making a place for signing an actual dude to go alongside Seager. Add another up-tick for Langford, and see what happens.
The other thing - Helman is 29. I could be wrong, but I think he's figured it out, and may be a late bloomer like Adolis. I like the bat speed, and I could see him going on a 5 year 20/20 run.
