Most of us expected this coming in. He has options, right? Or would we have to DFA him and wait until he clears waivers? Not sure since he started the season in the minors.


I don't know all the ins and outs but options are only for serfs and arb guys? He definitely doesn't have them. I've watched a ton of Nats baseball since 15 and they knew what he was and that's why he was $1 million. He can be dfa'd and we only take the small hit.

Think the steals issue has been an (im)perfect storm of a nearly all-righty rotation, slow movement to home plate from our pitchers, and two catchers that aren't known for pop time or cannons for arms.

Think it'll regress to the "mean" a bit as we play slower teams but doesn't seem like a flaw that we can fix this year (beyond Bradford's return + maybe some changes in mechanics from pitchers).

I think he only has to clear waivers if he declines the designation but I'm not sure. I know he doesn't have options. Those expired years ago. Just wondering.

I think we are missing the really competitive at bats right now. We seem to be getting a lot of swing and miss and not fouling off the borderline pitches

I was going to say the same thing, I'm sure the bottom of the 5th will be an implosion but he's doing exactly what we need him to, eat innings and keep us in the game, a tie in the 5th is great!

Considering the rough 2nd inning, he limited damage the rest of the game. I'll take that start. It's time for the pen and the offense to win this one.

Far from giving up on him but I am starting to not view him heating up as a sure thing anymore. Josh Smith having a nice year does give us a bit of cushion there at least
