Those exist. They're called team options.



Those exist at the end of the contract. I'm saying "mid contract".

Correa has a 6-year deal with an additional 4 vesting options. Semi middle. I just think those are rare because the players don't have to sign them. Someone will offer something better.

Assuming no crazy injuries and decent play, this is a 2/85 M deal. Belli is going to hit the market and look for a final deal at 5-6 years. Less good of a deal for NY. They'll have to do this song and dance again.

That was one of the stories that came out of his time in Chicago. More concerned with his phone than reading scouting reports

I had someone close to the organization tell me recently that he was very similar to Lance Berkman. All-World talent but just about as lazy and lackadaisical as can be.

Not a bad dude by any means, just not a guy who loves baseball and the grind that comes with it.

That would be an awesome luxury, but what it would take to get Baty would warrant playing him daily. You'd have to be the Dodgers to trade for him just to use him as a UTL.

Aaron Judge is 33, turns 34 in April.

I covered the Astros for KZNE when I was younger, I talked with the organization frequently, I interviewed Berkman multiple times and every account about him was that he was the hardest worker in terms of his dedication to hitting.

I'm guessing your friend was just talking about his physical shape, but even still I have a hard time thinking someone would think of Berkman as lazy.

I've heard it from more than just a couple folks so that's interesting - but I know one person was talking about conditioning specifically.

BTW - I worked for KZNE as well for a few years. Bet we know a lot of the same folks.
