I wouldn't be surprised if Walker gets traded at the trade deadline. At that point other contenders in need of a first baseman and willing to take on his salary. But that would only be feasible if Parades is still an Astro at the deadline.

Paredes probably seemed like a better trade candidate than we thought. He is so perfectly fit for our team and stadium that he's simply way more valuable to us than all but a couple other teams. Boston is one of them but when there's no competition you're gonna get lowballed.
CW salary dump is your only other option but what's the point right now? It doesn't help us acquire anyone else as free agency has been picked over plus you are selling low. Maybe he has a good year and you get something for him next year with only one year left?

I like to think of it this way...
Dana isn't going to do a deal just for the sake of doing a deal. He's held firm on his asking price for Parades (as he should). He's only going to make a deal if he gets FMV in return and it helps improve the team.
These are all good things.
Remember...It takes two to tango. I'd be more upset if Dana was standing pat by choice. That's doesn't seem to be the case.

All Dana does is leak and talk.
Old Astros regimes made moves nobody was talking about. Out if nowhere to us. Dana leaks and talks- everyone knows what he is trying to get done, but he doesn't know how to execute without Crane forcing it through with money.
It has way more to do with lack of assets than anything else.

This board wanted a GM who talks, gets a GM who talks, now wants a GM who doesn't talk.
Weird.

I could be way off, but I think the drive to keep the window open is keeping Dana from exercising his strength. It is incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to keep an aging boat afloat with little capital. Crane either needs to break the bank or hit the reset, because straddling the fence might fill enough seats and sell sufficient beer to stay in the black, but it is not a path to a title. Dana's known for building a team through the draft and talent identification, but he's doing that with one hand tied behind his back. Just my opinion.

When is Yordan going to see some action? Last year he played very little, didn't do much, and we all know what happened. When you see Judge, Schwarber, etc pounding the ball in ST, I wonder where our big man is?

He went for a routine checkup at Houston Methodist and he's out until 2037.

Unfortunately I think in 2030, Pena will be in the 2nd year of his $7 billion dollar a year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers

Carlos Correa and Christian Walker will also make their spring debuts Thursday in the home split-squad. Jose Altuve is scheduled to play Friday. Yordan Alvarez will be “a little bit later” due to normal buildup, Joe Espada said. Yainer Diaz will DH tomorrow and catch Friday. https://t.co/Vj3v9KHpB7

It sounds bad because that's been the reality. It might not be that this year, but there's a reason his career high in home runs only ties Judge's sixth-best total. You gotta be available to be great.
The Astros could really use a great Alvarez this year.

Yes I get that, it's just that Yordan's may be June.texasaggie2015 said:houag78 said:

Established veterans each have their own timeline with spring training ramp up. Completely normal.
