several sizeable contracts coming off the books by 2028 or after 2028

including Lance, Walker, Hader, javier, and Correa

2019: bummed but also know that the scandal came out weeks later so it would have been lumped in with 2017 in terms of national media/baseball fans

2021: not bummed because it just wasn't meant to be that year and you could tell early in that series. Just winning the ALCS felt like the accomplishment

2023: this is the one that gets me. Chance to go back to back post scandal where nobody could take it away from us. Chance to bury our in state rivals back to obscurity and win (maybe sweep) the easiest WS matchup.

I'm saying there are lots of games in 2017 and 2022 that easily could have been lost, including the ones I mentioned in my first post. I'm not talking about the entire run. But both World Series that we won could have easily gone the other way.

2-2 in world series appearances is probably about what is deserved, in the big picture

I'm just so happy we sustained success.

Imagine how rough it would be if we fell to obscurity after winning in 2017 like the royals and nationals did. AND THEN the scandal came out while we were just losing all the time.

2021 and 2022 were such important years for this franchise

ehh I don't think I'd trade the 17 WS for anything. There's so much mythology about even individual games within the series itself, much less the full seven games taken as a whole.

Freaking 2023 and that late season home curse. 6 pennants and 3 titles would have been so nice, but that could've easily been a rematch with Philly instead as well.

You can leave Dana as the GM and bring in an President of Baseball Ops to oversee big moves. That's effectively what the Dodgers have with Friedman and Gomes. Of course Crane would have to fire his son who is in charge of…..I honestly have no clue what he does. SVP of Paycheck Collection?

Jose Ramirez steals 2 bases today, now leads the Astros' entire team 18-16 in steals.

Ramirez will be 34 in September and is on pace to steal 65 bases. By comparison, Ricky Henderson stole 53 the year he turned 34. Ramirez's career high is 44 from last year.

Hate to be that guy, but the 2020 title would count as a full title to us if we had won it. I'd actually argue that was a tougher playoff run than the others they had to make given the extra games and zero home field advantage
