I'm referring to Dana. Firing Joe is just irrelevant. Do it or don't, I couldn't care less. The team is what it is either way. I'm guessing brass waits until we get healthy to fire him so it appears the new guy is smarter when in reality it's because he has HB, Peña and Hader instead of scrub 1, 2, and 3.
I think that Espada has to be tied to the performance of the offense the last few years (the decision to hang onto Cintron/Snitker…refusing to move on) and through that, ignoring everything that was wrong with the pitching b/c you had some great individual performers…Josh Miller seems less than worthless, at this point.
Also, at some point, you have to lay the injuries at the feet of Espada and his staff since they just keep happening and it's hard to believe that this staff has simply had awful luck with health (on a historic basis) for his 2+ seasons at the helm. Clearly, there's a problem with the prep work being done.
I think of it like this…if you fire Espada and Josh Miller; do you think either of those guys will be managing an MLB team or pitching staff ever again? (I could see Joe doing it on an interim basis after the manager he is a bench coach for getting fired).
