It's for the same card. So if you're going business to business, great. But if you're going business to personal, it won't do it for ya. If you do need a personal referral, let me know, and I can hook you up.

Anyone trying to accumulate a ton of Bonvoy points? I have 119,506 bonvoy points I'd be willing to trade for far fewer UR or Hyatt points.

Finishing up my SWA rapids reward strategy and had a quick question. I already applied for (and received) my SWA Rapid Rewards Business Preferred card. The other two cards I am interested in are the SWA Rapid Rewards personal card (to get my 40k additional SUB and earn my companion pass for 2020-2021) and then the Business Ink card for the 80k UR SUB. I want to be careful not to end up on Chase's radar from a velocity standpoint. I have only opened the one SWA business card in the past 24 months, so 5/24 isn't a problem.

If I just opened my SWA business card in early October, should I be ok applying for the SWA personal card already, or should I wait a bit? And when should it be safe to apply for the ink card?

Finally, I recently refinanced my mortgage and found out yesterday that Chase took over the servicing of the mortgage effective Dec 1. Any chance I can call Chase and leverage that mortgage into some points? I know they sometimes do UR SUB points for new mortgages where Chase is the original lender, but I wonder if I could talk them into some points in this scenario as well.

Thanks in advance for any info you can share,

-B
I'm in your same position. I decided I'm going to apply for the personal card the first half of December. I don't want to hit the minimum spend for bonus before then anyways. I figure I have to in order to maximize the time with the companion pass

If you have any SW flights planned before December, you can apply for personal during flight for 50K points after spending $2k

I currently have the SW business and personal cards and have companion pass through 2020. My wife and I each have the Sapphire reserve from when they were giving 100k signing bonus. I don't use the business card anymore after spending the minimum to get the 60k points. My plan is cancel my wife's Sapphire card and add her as authorized user on mine so we are accumulating points into one account. Then sometime a year from now, I'm going to get my wife a Chase business and personal card to take advantage of the companion pass for 2021. Am I missing something on my plan?

Don't add her as an authorized user. It will count towards her 5/24 status. You can just send Chase a secure message on their website and request another card because yours is "damaged," and they will send an exact same card that your wife can use.

Also make sure you hit the 125k points (or whatever number) in early 2021 and you will have the companion pass for the rest of 2021 and all of 2022.

I had no idea that AU cards counted towards 5/24 until I read your post. I had my wife add me to her Amazon Prime account to get 2% back on fuel purchases. I was going to soon apply for the Freedom card once I maxed out my 3% FU signup bonus. Guess that won't be happening for awhile now.

You can do it, but you'll have to call reconsideration after denial and ask that they look again excluding cards you're an AU on. It'll take 20 or 30 minutes to call in usually, but they've always ended up approving me.

Why don't you just transfer them to an airline you want to fly? That's the best use of Bonvoy right now.

Yeah, I would love to do this, but I won't be flying for a while and I tend to use Southwest.

Apologies if this has been asked already, but hoping someone might know. I've cranked through all the Chase business cards in the last year using SSN and sole proprietor. I'm interested in doing the Ink Business Preferred again, if it's allowed. Has been over 12 months since I first opened it, then a few months after that I downgraded it to one of their free cards. I completely closed it a month or so ago.

May be worth using an EIN to cycle through them again.

Since Chase Sapphire gives 3 points per $ spent on travel, should I use it to book my Southwest flights instead of my SW Priority card? I'll still use the SW cards to book my rental cars because I get additional 600 points.

In general, Chase/UR points are more valuable than SW and transfer 1:1 to SW so unless you are earning more on the SW card, no reason not to get the UR points.

Any rumors on elevated bonuses on the SW Personal card before the end of the year?

I got the 80k sign up on the business card. Waiting to spend until Jan 2020.

My wife has a SW Personal so thinking the best option is to get her referral on the personal for me then cancel hers.

I signed up for the same deal on the business card. We are going to Atlanta for the game next weekend so I'm going to apply for the personal card from the plane to get the extra 10k.

They just lowered the regular bonus so I'm not sure if they'll raise it again. I'm curious if they'll do the one year Companion Pass deal like they did earlier this year.

When done in the air, I believe it's an extra 10k above the standard personal card bonuses, so 50k total.

I haven't done it, but apparently you can just use the link and don't have to actually be in the air.

If this is the case, I'd appreciate it if one of you guys who is flying next week will share the link for the higher bonus amount. I'm in the exact same boat as far as recently getting the biz card (80k bonus) and now wanting the personal card. I've been holding off on applying and hoping that they'll sweeten the bonus above the current 40k offer

I'll wait till next week to compare the offers but it seems to come out to wash since my wife will get 10k.

If anyone is looking to apply for the standard personal card, here's a referral link:

  • Login to your online account so that you are on your Chase dashboard.
  • Avoid the "Things you can do" dropdown.
  • Select the hamburger menu icon in the top left and click "Secure Messages."
  • An outdated window will appear.
  • Confirm the email Chase has on file is correct, otherwise you won't be notified when they respond to your message
  • Select "Compose Message." Then under the "Credit Card" section of "My Personal Account," select "Other/Not Listed" from the dropdown menu.
  • Select the card you'd like to cancel from the Account Number dropdown menu.
  • Write a brief message about why you'd like to cancel your card. Saying you no longer have use for it should be enough and explain that it has a $0 balance.
  • Click "Send"!

I applied for the 50k SW personal card in the air on Thursday night and got approval today. So I'll sit on that and my new business card until Jan 1 and buy a bunch of champagne on sale to hit my spend.

Anybody ever cancel a chase card, then get a refund?

I canceled a united card, but just canceled a united flight I purchased a few months ago. So I have a $488 refund coming.. where is it going to go since that card is canceled?

I don't have a good feeling in my stomach about this. I canceled the flight, which I'm pretty sure was business class and fully refundable. (then I repurchased since it dropped $130). But, I got no email showing the cancellation/refund, and when I look at 'my trips', under 'canceled trips', it doesn't show up. If I search the old confirmation number, it says inactive reservation, and was canceled.

Anyway.. wonder if Chase will just issue me a check?

I have been issued checks in the past. Or credited to another card within the bank (but you have to call for that)

Interesting, they credited the same card (which again, is currently canceled). There is another card on the account, but they didn't credit it.

So now I have negative a few hundred bucks on a card that is canceled.

    Edit:

I sent an email through their private messaging. They replied and said they cut a check already.
