Wednesday, Sept 6th 9:30pm ET Update:

I still think that Duffy's is going to be the place to be this weekend when you are not at the stadium, seeing the sites, or at a scheduled event such as yell practice. Duffy's Intracoastal Mall/163rd is still our "unofficial headquarters" for the weekend, but late Saturday night there will be a huge UFC fight that Duffy's is promoting. The fight starts at 10:00pm, but they will start charging $5 cover at around 8:30pm. If you are already inside Duffy's there will obviously not be a cover charge. So for Saturday I would recommend Duffy's anytime between 11:00am and 9:00pm. After 9:00pm Duffy's will still be fun, but it will definitely start to become dominated by UFC fans. I just learned about the fight via a promotional email from Duffy's.

Nothing will complete my night like getting head butted by a coked-up UFC fan at Duffy's.

I'm going to be at Duffy's until 9ish. At around 9:30pm I'm taking a Lyft or Uber to North Beach (Miami Beach). There are three bars there:

ON THE ROCKS Collins and 71st
SAND BAR + KITCHEN Collins & 67th
NORMAN'S Collins & 67th

There are 4 short blocks between ON THE ROCKS and the other two bars. It is a pleasant walk down Collins, or you could walk along the beach if you wanted.

ON THE ROCKS will not be showing the UFC fight… I know that for a fact. If I find out that SAND BAR or NORMAN'S is charging cover/showing the fight I will post that info on this thread.

How long do you think there will be a wait for food/drinks around 12 PM on Saturday at Duffy's?

If you are talking about ordering food and drinks at Duffy's at 12:00 Noon there shouldn't be too much of a wait. Duffy's usually staffs up pretty good for busy game weekends.

Is the bike ride still a thing?

Yes I am. If it is the official gathering place pre game I was wondering.

As of right now the Miami Beach bicycle path ride might be something that Aggies do on their own. This is the first sign of interest that I have received. I don't know if there would be enough interest to coordinate a group ride. I would highly recommend it - you can ride from 1st St to 87th St. As of right now the weather in Miami is absolutely beautiful. The high for Saturday is projected to be 88 degrees. I can tell you for a fact that the humidity has been quite a bit lower this week as compared to last week. My iPhone app shows no rainfall forecast for this weekend, but that could change at any moment!

Duffy's is our "unofficial headquarters" for the weekend. The Association has named Mickey Burke's In South Beach as the pregame gathering spot. I've never been there, so I'm sticking with what I know from being the guy who arranges all of the Texas A&M game watching events here in Miami-Dade and Broward.

Thursday Sept 7th 10:30pm ET Update

I went by both Sand Bar and Norman's at 67th and Collins (took the photo posted below) an hour ago in person to ask about the UFC fight 10pm Saturday night. Surprisingly neither manager could give me an answer. I've heard that for a bar in Miami to show a UFC fight it costs between $10,000 and $15,000. To me it seems like most bars would have already made this decision, but one of the managers told me that they often pay Friday morning before the weekend if they decide the fight is a go.

If you are like me and like to hang out after the game, have a few drinks, and catch up on all the scores please do yourself a favor and check Friday with the bar closest to your hotel (or wherever you have decided to go) about the Saturday 10pm UFC fight. Unless you plan to watch the fight you do not want to be at a UFC bar after 9:00pm Saturday night. If everyone can post an answer to this UFC situation we can compile a last minute list of good places to hang out Saturday night after 9:00pm.

If you are headed to Miami for the game don't spend too much money on tickets. In the past 24 hours five different Aggies have offered me free tickets!

I bought tickets through Univ of Miami initially. The amount of emails hitting my inbox begging Miami fans to purchase tickets to this game is laughable.

I've got 4 extra tickets I'm bringing with me. Not sure I can transfer them but can meet at the gate.

Looks like I'll go solo. Is there a place where I can get the bike on one end of the beach and leave it at the other? Or am I SOL?

I'll probably stop by Duffys. I have a yellow parking pass and can transport an Ag or two to the game. They'd be on there own after the game.

Thanks for the assist. I ubered directly from FLL to the bikes on 79th & Collins (I just have my backpack with me) and biked all the way to South Pointe. It was pretty kickass and took about an hour 15 minutes. Definitely recommend to anyone who has the time and energy.

If you are cruising around Miami looking for food and drinks there are two local/regional restaurant chains you should know about. One is Duffy's which I've already mentioned. The other is Flanigan's which is legendary in South Florida. Flanigan's has a Surfside location 1 block from the beach (95th & Harding) which is close to where some of you have told me you are staying.

A Miami tip that might come in handy this weekend…

If there is excess demand during peak times and you are having problems getting an Uber or Lyft just walk to the nearest hotel - usually there will be taxis lined up. Near the beach and in touristy areas you usually won't be more than 2 or 3 blocks from a hotel.

Saw some ags at On The Rocks. Walked by the Bandshell music arena and saw Tangarine Dream is playing tonight at 8 so got tickets. Hopefully will be over in time to make it to yell.

Ended up going back to our airbnb on collins after the concert in the Beach Bandshell in North Beach. Sitting on our balcony facing ocean and saw a rocket in the air out over the ocean. Aparently space X just launched a Falcon 9 rocket.
