I am going to be in London for Wimbledon this summer and I am interested in getting some good Indian food recommendations. The only recommendation I have received so far, direct from a limey, is Dishoom Covent Garden. Any recs? I am open to other dining recommendations, but really if I am in London it's Indian food I would like to explore. Thanks in advance.

Gymkhana is the best I had.

Dishoom is very good. Veeraswammy is very good too.

My favorite sort of dive joint in Whitechapel is Nedoo or do any of the ones on Brick Lane.

Thank you. Gymkhana must be excellent - they are booked out into July already! Did get a Veeraswamy reservation, though.

We had Veeraswamy in London and Dishoom in Edinburgh.
Both were excellent and I would highly recommend!

Yeah to be honest I went to Gymkhana wanting to hate on it because of the hype. But no… it's fantastic and lives up to it.

I'm so jealous you're going for Wimbledon. I went a couple of years ago, went through the queue. It was a great experience.

Thank you. It has been on "the list" for a good while, I am finally going to cross it off and see the hallowed grounds I would wake up early to watch in my misspent youth.

What week(s) are you going? We went the first week to maximize watching tennis on the "regular" courts. Great views. We didn't try for the Court 1, Centre Court, etc. just wanted to watch tennis and have some beers.

Tips: Pims is awful unless you like gin. You kinds hafta get strawberries and cream but you can replicate that better at home. lol.

I will be there the middle Saturday and Sunday. I'm sure I will have a Pimm's or two, and strawberries and cream are a must.

What?! A Pimm's Cup in the afternoon during English summer is fantastic.

I thought it was terrible. lol. I'm not judging, though. It's popular for a reason.

That's like saying a gin and tonic is bad unless you like gin. Its a gin drink

And Dishoom is fantastic. Been 3 times now

A Pimms Cup in English summer is like mulled wine in the winter. I usually have exactly one of those in me a year. It's delicious and itches a scratch when I have it but after that one, I'm good until the itch comes again the next year.
